He may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for the many fans of the country-flavored comedian, “Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector” will be sheer humor heaven.

And if it isn't, moviegoers can't blame the film's makers for not knowing what they were getting into. It's all right there in the title, which makes going into too much detail here absolutely redundant. We get “Blue Collar TV” veteran Larry the Cable Guy, doing his very basic brand of observational humor while working as a health inspector who checks out conditions at various eateries.

What might gross out other folks is all in a day's work for Larry, and his Teflon-like approach to the more gross situations he walks into will cause some observers to go “Ewwwww!” while others let out great guffaws. That's the thing about Larry, whether he's live on stage (as he will be at Albany's Palace Theatre next month) or on a television or movie screen: He knows who his audience is, just as his fans know who they are.

Admittedly, though, it's a little different with a mass movie audience to whom someone may still be relatively unknown. A brief ad for the film might look amusing, but it's not until you see the whole show that you know whether the star will entertain you.

In this case, Larry fans need not worry: His screen stint as a health inspector will be a great time. For others, it's likely to be an education ... and they'll certain come out knowing whether they have the desire to watch Larry inspect anything else.
