only one I could think of...
facts of life- george clooney
I think Clooney got his big break on "E.R."
He appeared on a few sitcoms including FOL and Rosanne, but he really achieved big fame thanks to "E.R."
As far as current stars, I'd say Eva Longoria owes a lot to "Desperate Housewives." Nobody knew who she was before that show premiered.

Ron Howard was already famous from The Andy Griifith Show not to mention the movie American Grafitti before Happy Days came on.
JO jr 04-10-2006, 03:47 AM NANCY MCKEON-JO FROM "THE FACTS OF LIFE". WENT ON TO DO OTHER TV SERIES, NUMEROUS MOVIES (ESPECIALLY FOR LIFETIME) AND KNOWN AS INSPECTOR JINNY EXTEAD ON "THE DIVISION".
KIM FIELDS-TOOTIE FROM "THE FACTS OF LIFE". WAS IN "LIVING SINGLE" ON TV. NOW SOME MIGHT DISPUTE THAT THIS WAS HER BIG BREAK, AS SHE WAS ALSO IN A MRS. BUTTERSWORTH COMMERCIAL, AS WELL AS DIFF'RENT STROKES, BUT I THINK MOST PEOPLE WOULD KNOW HER BETTER FROM THE FACTS OF LIFE.
THESE TWO WOMEN ALSO WRITE, DIRECT AND HAVE HAD THEIR OWN PRODUCTION COMPANIES.
MINDY COHN-NATALIE FROM "THE FACTS OF LIFE". SHE HAS BEEN THE VOICE OF VELMA IN THE NEW SCOOBY DOO SERIES, AND WAS ON TV'S "THE HELP".
TO NAME A FEW WHO APPEARED AS REGULARS: GEORGE CLOONEY (GEORGE THE HANDYMAN), JAMI GERTZ (BOOTS ST. CLAIRE), MACENZIE ASTIN (ANDY).
PLUS GUEST APPEARANCES: HELEN HUNT AND MEGAN FOLLOWS (YES, ANNE OF GREEN GABLES HERSELF!) COME TO MIND OFF-HAND.
IN ADDITION, SOME HAVE GONE ON TO WIN OSCARS! MOST RECENTLY, ONE OF THE WRITERS FOR FACTS, PAUL HAGGIS (WROTE SCREENPLAY FOR MILLION DOLLAR BABY & CRASH), AND GEORGE CLOONEY.
THIS LITTLE SHOW THAT COULD, WHETHER YOU LOVED IT OR NOT, SURE DID HELP PRODUCE SOME FINE TALENT!:) HOW'S ABOUT THAT!:)

Rosie O' Donnell "Gimmie A Break"
treky 04-18-2006, 02:22 AM Carrol O'Conner, Jean Stapelton, Rob Reiner, Sally Struthers-"All in the Family"
Sid Ceascer, Imone Cocoa-"The Admirle Revue" (I think that's the name of it-if I'm wrong, I'm sure TVKNOWLEDGE FAN or somebody will correct me!:) )
I will now pause while most people ask HUH? WHAT'S THAT SHOW??
it was a variety show in 1948 (how many people knew TV went back that far?) where Sid Ceaser and Imogene Cocoa first performed together, and which led to their success on "YOUR SHOW OF SHOWS" in the 50s. It was sponsored by Admirl Electronics and they used it to plug their line of TVs.
Chain Gang Member 04-18-2006, 07:21 PM Kaley Cuoco-8 Simple Rules
Brian Damage 04-18-2006, 07:48 PM Michael Richards--Seinfeld
Another chiquita who has a hit show to thank for pulling her from oblivion is Evangeline Lily (from Lost).
It seems like The New York papers print photos of her traipsing around Hawaii on a weekly basis.
Too many people from too many soaps to even name.
