Does anyone know if "Thing" was a right or left hand?

I don't know if it was his right or left hand, but I do know (from various sources)
that Ted Cassidy ("Lurch") also played the role of "Thing" on THE ADDAMS FAMILY. In the only photo of "Thing" that I have handy, it appears to be his left hand (unless, of course, the negative was reversed when it was printed, producing a mirror image).

I've always wondered, and I've always heard the same thing TVStarCollector said, just about. It looks like a left hand to me.

I've also heard that when the script called for Lurch and Thing to be in the same shot, a producer would fill in as Thing.

And I've heard that Ted would occasionally switch hands just to see if anyone noticed. I once cataloged each show to tally how many times Thing appeared in a scene as a right hand, and how many as a left. There may have been one episode where he appeared as BOTH. :dizzy:
