View Full Version : Please Pray for my little girl
Brian Damage 04-02-2006, 01:49 AM I never was one to think to do this, but right now, my wife and I are desperate for answers. Recently, my youngest daughter Ashlyn Grace, fell ill. It was originally diagnosed a stomach virus, but since then, her health has worsened. We have three seperate doctors tending to her and none of them can figure out what is wrong with her. Every day when the doctors are set to release her from the hospital, something new is revealed and she has to stay longer.
Today she had a fever that lasted all day. It topped out at 104 degrees. She is only 3 year's old and is completely helpless. Everyday she cries to come home and everyday we have to tell her, "soon." She was always a little petite little girl, but if you see her now, she is nothing but skin and bones. It literally is breaking my heart to see her this sick. My oldest daughter (who is 6) cries everyday wanting to know when her sister is coming home.
I am a tough guy and don't show my emotions very often, but this is breaking me down. My wife has been a champion and has been by Ashlyn's side in the hospital for days now. She has been strong for Ashlyn, but I know that she is a wreck inside.
I know that some of you don't particularly care for me, but this isn't about me. This is about my daughter and a way for her to get healthy once more. If you all could just say a prayer for her. A little something, anything I know that God will answer. My faith has been severly tested this past week, but I know deep down in my heart that God is by my side. God bless you all.

Could it be a viral infection. A co-worker had to rush to her daughter the other day at work and the doctor found that it was a viral infection she had.
Just something to ask the doctors.
Hang in there.:)

Your story also reminds me of one of our instructors. She's in Texas right now because her 8-9-year-old son (middle child) keeps collapsing, so he is in a children's hospital in Texas at the moment.
What is going on with these recent types of news? This is all scary news, but all of my thoughts on everyone. Anyway, I just hope everything will be all right for everyone.

Yes, the weight loss is noticeable, but she still looks adorable. She'll fatten up in no time. If her condition allows, give her an ice cream shake every day. That should do the trick. :)

The thing is Janice, she has been put on a strict diet. Ashlyn, a 30 pound three year old on a diet. No, candy, no chocolate, no fried food, no lactose, no McDonald's or Burger King of any kind, no orange juice, etc. Everything must be baked or broiled. It is a healthy way to eat for sure, but it limits the kind of stuff to get her weight up.

Yikes! Is that diet permanent? It seems to me that there would be a food supplement, in the form of a liquid. Sort of like Ensure for kids. I mean, she has to get her strength up and losing weight seems almost dangerous at this point.
Sterling Holobyte 04-04-2006, 12:30 AM Brian, I didn't see this thread until now.
I am glad your little girl is doing better, and I will pray that she continues to improve. As the father of a little girl(looks to be about your daughter's age too) with a heart condition, I feel for you having to deal with your daughter being in the hospital. It is a frighteningly tense time, and I am just so glad Ashlyn is better and is home again. Do what the Doctors tell you; have faith; and just love her, and everything will turn out fine.
ponytail 04-04-2006, 07:17 AM She is adorable! Actually I'm kind of on that type of diet. A few years ago I was very sick for quite a long time. I eventually found a doctor who changed my diet and I did improve. I do cheat once in awhile and then I do feel the difference.
Stormtracker TF 04-04-2006, 07:28 AM I'm happy to hear your daughter is doing better, Brian. I hope she stays healthy and I'm still praying for you. Thanks for keeping everyone updated. :)

what about cooking things in Olive Oil? that's a good fat, right? why is she on such a strict diet and how long does she have to be on it?
btw.. the weight loss is noticable, but that smile of hers just makes it hard to see anything else! She's is absolutley precious!
Brian Damage 04-04-2006, 10:01 AM Thank you so much for the compliments. She has to be on this diet for at least the next two weeks until she meets with her gastrologist. She will then take a barium enema and see what kind of damage or infections are inside of her intestines.
Janice 04-04-2006, 11:35 AM I saw a commercial for it this morning. PediaSure. I don't know if it's lactose free though.
