I was wondering Lifetime took Unsloved Mysteries, and started to broadcast there. The show ended in 2002 ,but why did it end?? Was it beacuse Robert Stack wanted to end the show, or it just wasn't getting good ratings??

It was because of Robert Stack's death. But there was never any official word as to whether or not Lifetime would have renewed the show had Robert Stack lived. But when he died, Lifetime decided to terminate the show, rather than find a new host. However, I seriously doubt that Robert Stack would have wanted to quit the show.

To be completely honest... Robert Stack MADE the show IMO. When he died, the show died with him. It's kind of like Bob Barker and The Price is Right.

The Price is Right died when they got rid of Holly Hallstrom, and those legs.

LOL. Holly was my favorite Barker's Beauty when I was little... but that is material for another board. :)

The show ended in 2002, but RS did not die until May of 2003? Are you sure it was due to death for it end a few months before he died?

Here's what I know for sure: After the 2002 season ended, it appeared that the months ahead would be a hiatus, just like how the series went on hiatus after the conclusion of the 2001 season (that hiatus lasted from late 2001 until the following June, when the 2002 season began). In the November of 2002, two months after the last original episode of UM aired, Robert Stack underwent treatment for prostate cancer; Stack died six months later in May 2003.

Whether or not UM would have resumed production in 2003 is anyone's guess, since I hadn't heard any official word on that. If there were plans to do another season, it's possible they would have been delayed to accommodate Robert Stack's recovery.

In any case, when Robert Stack died, any hopes of UM coming back with new episodes were permanently dashed. :(
