View Full Version : Are you afraid of death?
swedeace 03-30-2006, 07:26 PM I got this idea of such a discussion from another forum:
Are you afraid of death? Why or why not?
As for me, I am gong to have to say "yes" and "no."
One thing I know is that life is too short, so I would like to just enjoy life to its fullest. I am the type of person who is usually looking forward to experiencing different things in life. It's the whole "I got to experience this or that" scenario I enjoy out of life.
Ireneparalegal 03-30-2006, 07:45 PM I am afraid of the MANNER of my death. I am only afraid of suffering. I also am worried abt my immortal soul. Am I damned to hell? I hope not. If I know I am not, then I have no fear for my immortal soul.
MaydayMalonesGirl 03-30-2006, 07:52 PM I am. I don't believe in the concept of the afterlife. I know that when I die it'll just be over, which scares me.
Stormtracker TF 03-30-2006, 07:52 PM I'm not afraid of death. Death is afraid of me.
CollegeDropout 03-30-2006, 07:55 PM I know we should not fear what we dont know and frankly no one knows exactly what comes after life however its hard not to make up these notions of heaven and hell or nothing. So yeah right now I am like afraid of death but I also know once I accomplish more in life, I will feel more comfortable about my tenure on earth. I think at my young age it is hard to accept the notion of death even though humans are like reeds and can be cut down at any point in time

What is this, Final Destination???!!
EmoJoe 03-30-2006, 08:05 PM yeah :(
G-Force Glockstar 03-30-2006, 09:32 PM Kind of, sometimes
Tuesday Weld 03-30-2006, 10:10 PM In some ways, I think the unknown is scary, for a lot of people. However, my belief is that death is not the end, there is something afterwards, I'm just not sure what, but I believe the soul never dies and therefore, you experience something, whether it's reincarnation, an afterlife, or both.
Fleet 03-30-2006, 10:43 PM I'm not afraid... I know that the Wandering Spirit is on the Other Side waiting for me. ;)
Hollow 03-30-2006, 11:10 PM in sincerity, i don't like most aspects of life, i don't like this world, i don't like myself and i'm glad i'll eventually die. one person who recently reached out to me in my time of need has given me many reasons to continue living even though my life is rough and i don't enjoy it, and it's because of them that my suicidal tendencies have been dying down lately. if i had the choice of whether to be born, i would have declined; but there are a few things i'd prefer to achieve before i die.

I am afraid of dying; not being here anymore. I wish that I could live forever but I know that it's not possible. I hope that I don't die young and in pain.
Janice 03-31-2006, 12:47 AM As Irene stated, it's the manner of death that I'm concerned about. When I hear of the terrible ways that some people die, I just pray that I die a peaceful and painless death. Preferably, in my sleep, lol.
Other than that, I'm not really afraid of death. I have a lot of loved ones on the other side.
Fleet 03-31-2006, 02:17 AM When you get to the Other Side, Janice, I'll introduce you to the Wandering Spirit. I know you'll like her. :D
Brian Damage 03-31-2006, 10:56 AM I feel that I am protected by the blood of Jesus. As long as I believe and keep my faith in him, I'll be fine. So no, I am not really afraid of dying because I feel I have a place in Heaven.
Nighthawk76 03-31-2006, 12:25 PM Yes, I am afraid of death. I'm only going to be 30. I don't want to die yet.
Penny Lane 03-31-2006, 12:26 PM I feel that I am protected by the blood of Jesus. As long as I believe and keep my faith in him, I'll be fine. So no, I am not really afraid of dying because I feel I have a place in Heaven.
Amen to that Brian! I believe that too.
My fear is being buried alive. That just panics me! My husband and I have decided to be cremated. I know that the fear of being buried alive is silly but that is really the only thing that I am afraid of. The thought of being under the ground is terrifying to me!
Brieannas21 03-31-2006, 02:08 PM I'm not affraid of death, it's the actual dying part that worries me.
Fonzarelli 03-31-2006, 03:09 PM "I don't wanna die... but I'm not keen on livin' either"
-Robbie Williams in his song Feel
Brian 03-31-2006, 03:39 PM I live every day to the fullest so much that I don't worry about dying or how I'll die. Life is too short for me to worry about it a lot.
PZelda 03-31-2006, 04:01 PM I'm not worried or afraid of dying. It's the MANNER that scares me sometimes. I hear about the gruesome ways people die, and I hope I never die that way. For example...9/11. That is one of the most terrifying ways to die. :( Being in a plane... Jumping out the window of one of the towers...Being inside when the buildings collapsed... *shudder* :(
I am also thankful that we don't live in medieval times, because people back then thought of really gruesome ways to kill somebody who had committed a crime, such as beheading or quartering. :barf:
I just hope that when my time comes, it can happen while I'm sleeping...Nice and peacefully.

*cough*death penalty*cough*
Fleet 03-31-2006, 05:37 PM *cough*death penalty*cough*
Yeah, "real terrible."
The condemned person gets an injection which makes him unconcious before he gets the injection which stops his heart and breathing. Can't be much more gentle than that!
Perhaps you should say *cough* the victims the murderers kill *cough* when mentioning gruesome.
Polniaczek033 03-31-2006, 08:56 PM in sincerity, i don't like most aspects of life, i don't like this world, i don't like myself and i'm glad i'll eventually die. one person who recently reached out to me in my time of need has given me many reasons to continue living even though my life is rough and i don't enjoy it, and it's because of them that my suicidal tendencies have been dying down lately. if i had the choice of whether to be born, i would have declined; but there are a few things i'd prefer to achieve before i die.
suicidal tendencies is a good band. sorry, that just caught my attention.
but anyway, yes and no. i'm just in a rough patch with my faith right now, and i'm just more concerned about my heaven or hell situation. but yeah.
rusyd 03-31-2006, 10:19 PM As the band Poi Dog Ponering said, "I'm not afraid of dying, I'm afraid of going through this thing twice".
I would hate that, but I don't want to die just yet but if I do I believe God will take me to his home. I hope.:)
seventies_sitcoms 03-31-2006, 11:46 PM I think sometimes about the way I'll die in the future. Will I have a lengthy illness and see everything I own be sold to pay off today's cold greedy unsympathic doctors, or will I just "go in a flash?"
Now I have no fear about when I am actually dead. They just throw you in the ground and that's that. I'm thinking of cremation and having myself scattered someplace. I don't want a final resting place.
Fonzarelli 04-01-2006, 03:06 PM Perhaps you should say *cough* the victims the murderers kill *cough* when mentioning gruesome.
Uuuuuuuuuuuhmmmmmmmm....
No, I stand by what I said. :) Shows just how little you know.

In other words, you are more concerned about condemned killers than you are of those they kill?
Okaaaaaaaaaaay.
