I am not talking abt chains or famous places. I am talking abt a little dive that is only in your city/town.
We have two places, one is called Win's and the other is called Buddy Burgers. OMG, they have great food. At Win's the hamburgers are so thick and juicy. They are like homemade, except better. I like them because they put thousand island on their hamburgers and they add a little something else, which is a secret, but it sure makes the hamburgers taste soooo good.

Buddy Burgers makes the best damn chili dogs. They are so good I can eat three of them. Each of these places has been around since before I was born. They are sooo good. As a matter of fact, Buddy Burgers was originally called Wimpy's...the name of the character on Popeye who would always ask for two hamburgers and he would gladly pay you for those two on Tuesday.:lol:

I live just outside of Chicago, so...you can imagine how that goes.

When you're in the city, you've got those kinds of places down every street, and they're all really just awesome. What I love so much about them is that since they're individually owned, 9 times out of 10 the owner and people working there CARE about what they're doing and about the quality of their food!

Also, it's nice once you've been somewhere a couple of times when the people know you, know what you like, etc.

I used to go to this one place all the time, and it was awesome, and then one day they decided to try a 'new' kind of fries and they were so different from the old ones. Next time I went in I was like "Dude, what was UP with those fries?" and apparently a few others had said the same thing, so he went back to the old kind in a hurry. :lol:

yeah, we have many many places here too. I just find these two places to be my favorites. Probably cuz they are so close to my house and I don't have to drive so far. But we do have soooooo many of these places.

You can always get a 2 for 1 special with them and man, it's worth it!

We got this chicken wing joint called "Sal' Birdland" they got the best wings in town. I use to work there in the mid-90s. The sauce is off the hook! Looking for late night food, Sal's is the best place to get wings. Let me post these websites so I can make your mouth water Irene. LOL

* The Dog House:
They make GREAT chile dogs and chile burgers.
http://albuquerque.citysearch.com/review/6926865

* Golden Pride:
There are several citywide locations hailing from The Frontier 24-hour restaurant in my city. They make great all-day breakfast burritos and carne adovada burritos.
http://www.frontierrestaurant.com/goldenpride.html

* Blake's Lotaburger:
Actually, these are statewide throughout New Mexico. They make GREAT flame-broiled hamburgers. They are a bit comparable to Burger King and Sonic's.
http://www.lotaburger.com/

* Satellite:
This is a local version of "Starbucks." Satellite is a really good socializing, coffeehouse atmosphere for anyone, especially to college students. There is free wireless internet access, tons of couches/chairs, and even little tables. I like both coffeehouses, but this one is a little more favorable for its socializing, homey area.
http://www.satcoffee.com/

* Flying Star Café:
From the same owners as The Satellite, this one is actually a restaurant/bakery and a bit of a coffeehouse.
http://www.flyingstarcafe.com/

Not that any of you who know these....

So, if anyone who has passed through New Mexico and eaten at any of these locations, what do you think??? :D

Mustard's Last Stand :drool: They have amazing Vienna sausages and bratwurts like the kind you can ONLY get in Chicago. Nice little place just a few blocks away from campus and it's pretty much heaven. Most of these places (In Chicago) look like shady little buildings where almost no one speaks English, but that's where you get the best food hands down. You know your food is good and quality made when the bag is full of grease stains, too. :drool:

Looks like there's a consensus so far that Chi-Town has the awesomest food around! ^_^

When my Grandparents moved back to West Virginia after my Grandpa retired (they had lived in Chicago for like 40 years while he worked) my Grandpa would say how nobody out there knew how to cook at all compared to the stuff in Chicago. He'd be like "These idiots don't know how to make a BEEF sandwich or anything!" :rofl:

There is a forum you can visit for such food at www.roadfood.com (http://www.roadfood.com/).

As for here in the Dayton area, one of my favorite places is in what is called Park Layne along OH 235 between New Carlisle and Interstate 70 called Rancher's Roast Beef. The menu is similar to Arby's, but it is less corporate. There are two locations: Park Layne and Washington Court House (southeast of Dayton). The WCH location has its own website at www.ranchersroastbeef.com (http://www.ranchersroastbeef.com/).

There is a place called Halo Burger near my house that has great hamburgers. There is also a place pretty close to the town where I grew up called Eddie's Drive In where you drive up, order your foood and the girls bring it out to you on roller skates. The food is really good and they have a lot of stuff on the menu, great desserts too.

That's a chain restaurant. It's not *EVERYWHERE* but they do have a good handful of locations around the US. There was a Country Kitchen where I used to live, and the food was alright.

There was this local fast-food place where I used to live that was called Gina's. It opened in around my sophomore or junior year of high school. They made FANTASTIC food. Oh man...Their fries and burgers...WOW. I actually stopped eating Mickey D's and started buying from Gina's because it was that good. :lol: I wish we had a Gina's down here. :( Fortunately, we have a Big Boy here. :D I know it's a chain fast-food place too, but this is the only place in the state I know of with a Big Boy. :lol:

There's a local place called Cotija's, which serves Mexican food and seafood. I've been eating there since it opened back in 2002 or 2003. I can eat there a lot and never get tired of it.

Not necessarily fast food, but there's a pizza joint called Polleyes with the absolute best stuffed breadsticks you've ever had.

Also not really fast food, there's this bar-type dive called Moes that makes really good chicken chunks!

Mmm, quite a few! There are two Mexican restaurants around here that serve the best food--one place is called Salsa Salsa, the other is called The Green Cactus. Yummy yummy food (not like Taco Bell!)

Then there's a pizza place called La Casa that I love :drool: Best damned Sicilian slices around!

Kelly's Roast Beef is legendary around these parts. For many years, it was just one location, on Revere Beach. No sitdown, window service only. They're open 24/7, 365 days a year. They have the best roast beef sandwiches, fried clams and seafood platters, chowder, and lobster rolls. I've been going there my entire life.

We've got this place called 'Super-Taqueria'. They have a few locations, but I would by no means call it a chain or big franchise or anything. It's family owned. In fact the kids of the owner went to our school, and the owners live in town. They have the best, freshest burritos and tacos of anywhere around here. Carnitas, carne asada, chili verde--you name it. It is delicious food and everyone in my town goes there. You go there on a Friday night and you always see people you know. Super-taqueria is just a great place, what can I say?

I forgot to mention this place called Tiger Lily, which is located in a tourist town called Port Jefferson. This place has the most amazing health food, I swear! They sell all sorts of exotic wraps and salads, as well as soy protein smoothies that are to DIE for. I had a peach-raspberry one and was in heaven!

It's expensive, but sooo worth it. Damn, now I want a smoothie! :D
