My replacement arrived yesterday. So far, so good. I haven't watched all the shows, but the ones that were a problem, seem to work fine.
It was a bit of a hassle. I had to mail them the bad set, which cost me around $6. Then they returned a new set to me. It was opened, and the letter said it had been tested.
My hope is that Universal corrects this problem in the future (I know there's probably a percentage of DVD's that will have problems). But I am glad that they sent me a set that seems to work. I still haven't opened my Leave it to Beaver set...I hope it's fine.

I haven't watched Disc 2 yet....I suppose I should get around to that.

I'd watch it. I have two sets, and both wouldn't play in the same spots.
On one disc, side two would stall out where Reed was telling Malloy the joke (in the first episode on the disc, side one). On the other set I have, disc two, side one wouldn't even play.
Also, on disc two, side two, the next to the last show (the one with the two guys fighting over the boat, the credits won't play). This was exactly the same on my other set.
There's also a problem with the last episode on disc two, side two, but I don't remember exactly what it was. This was also the same on my other set.
The one they sent me seems to play fine. I only checked the shows and disc that I was having a problem with, so I hope the other disc is fine. However, I have the other set with disc two that doesn't play, but disc one is fine. So I do have a complete set.
I have Leave It To Beaver, Season One, that I haven't watched. I'm hoping there's no problem since I bought it quite a while back.
When I returned these, they wanted a copy of the receipt that was dated within 30 days. I don't always watch the DVD sets within 30 days, but in the future, with Universal, I will. I've read where people have also had problems with LITB.

I was thinking I've watched the joke episode....I can't remember. But I know I haven't gotten around to the boat episode yet.

I think the joke episode is the first episode on disc two, side one. It's the one where Bing Crosby's son (I can't remember his name), is telling Reed the joke at the station, then Reed tries to tell it to Malloy (in the squad car), who doesn't really want to hear it. This part takes place fairly close to the beginning of the episode. So, if you've seen this, and had no problem, then maybe your DVD is fine. I hope so. It's a pain sending it back. Plus, you are out the postage.

I had my disc freeze a couple of times, contacted Universal (I live in Canada). They sent me a postpaid package to return the problem disc and not the box, and I received the replacement one in the mail with no problem.
I'm hoping season 2 comes out soon. I have them all on VHS, but I'd really like them on pre-recorded DVD. Chrisandjoyce@rogers.com
