I didn't' starting watch Westerns in general until I started watching Gunsmoke last year. dlemond 03-29-2006, 05:21 PM The only western I ever really watched was Bonanza. gidgetgrape 03-29-2006, 07:49 PM I'm not sure what the first western I ever saw was. My parents are huge western fans and in the 80s (when I was a kid) Wagon Train, The Rifleman and shows like that were always on. I didn't like westerns back then and I wouldn't consider myself a big fan now, but I like the ones about families the best. I can tell you that the show that stuck with me the most was Branded starring Chuck Connors. The opening with Chuck's character, Jason McCord, getting his stripes ripped off has always stayed with me. Listened to it with Brace Beemer in the lead and just followed thru when it aired in 47 on TV. Been a fan ever since. I'm sure I have watched each episode twice. Prefer the black and whites, eps1-182. Next western was Wagon Train as I was a big Ward Bond Fan. Just looked like a wagon master. Harvey toebig 12-15-2006, 12:31 PM It would be very difficult for me to pick a favorite. I loved them, especially after they changed from being mainly kids shows. I really liked the gimmicks the shows used, like The Rifleman's rifle. Johnny Ringo's six shooter that had a shotgun shell it fired from a second barrel. And, how about the one armed gunslinger, Tate. Any other gimmicks out there, I can think of some more. toebig |
