Greetings,

I just wanted to know if anyone remembers seeing a guy named Steve on COPS, back in the early 90s arrested for drinking and driving. He caused a big accident. The one line I remember was "Steve has ruined his life."

Are there any updates on his release, yet?

Where did that take place?

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

greatgarrett2

P.S. Feel free to elaborate on the COPS segment that touched you the most in some way. This post is also for the purpose of most memorable COPS shows.

Wow impressive that you have such a good memory of Cops shows. I don't remember that one..sorry. They do show the reruns a ton over here though so maybe I'll catch it someday. Thats one of the bad things about Cops though, they don't update anything. I used to watch a similar show called "Real Stories of the Highway Patrol" and liked it because they updated each case at the end.

I can't remember too many Cops episodes but I do remember one about a grandma who was in her motel room supposedly watching her two young grandchildren. The police were called because the two very young children had gotten out in the hallway and were crying. There was drug paraphenalia around and booze. In fact the grandson who looked to be only 2 or 3 had gotten into the liquor as the cops could smell it on him. It was so sad to see him sitting there almost catatonic and I felt so sorry for those kids. Talk about a miserable excuse for a grandma...

Why do COPS mostly always take place in Kansas City, or Miami/Dade county?

For what it's worth, I remember this segment, and I think I may have it on tape. The guy was driving drunk in a company owned vehicle and he hit something. It occurred in Dade County, Florida. He thought the police had stolen his wallet, and he visable cried when they put him in the backseat of the patrol car. I remember watching this years ago on satellite. It was one of the first episodes of Cops.

The segment that was most memorable for me was the one where cops in Tampa were busting people for buying marijuana (from an undercover officer), and seizing their cars. The cops would then explain to the offenders that they could BUY their car back from the police department in a police auction. All over a little (less than an eighth) weed. If there ever was an example of how idiotic marijuana laws are in this country, this was it.

The converse of the above example would be a segment I saw once where the police in Oregon busted a guy for possession at some kind of carnival and actually let him go. In the same episode a cop busted a homeless man for heroin possession and accidentally got stuck with a needle while searching the guy's pockets - really something to worry about.

That's the episode! He cried when they put him in the car. You could see the tear dangling from his left eye and when he got to the police station, he face was streaked. I thought it happened in Cleveland, OH for some unknown reason. It was Dade County, Florida.

That was one of the most memorable episode I've watched 'cause it touched me so deeply.

The first "season" of Cops was shot primarily in Dade, Broward, and Brevard Counties with occasional segments shot in Palm Beach County. I was born and raised in South Florida, and I have traveled throughout most of the state. So, it wasn't uncommon for me to actually recognize some of the locations they (the cops) were at in those days. In fact, I think that is one of the reasons I was drawn to the show back then. I still vividly remember the hour long "special" from the Soviet Union that finished out the first season. They were in Portland after that, and that was about the time I stopped watching regularly. Every once in awhile, they do some new reports from Palm Beach County, and once again, I can usually tell where they are.

The early Miami/Broward/Dade county ones are the best.

The "Daniel" segement where Daniel after having sprayed his wife with raid, is confronted by the police who ask then force him to sit but instead he starts bouncing off the couch ...

Daniel: "I can do this all night"

Daniel gets hauled out of his house to the cruiser where he bangs his head on the rear light..then the window.. despite the pleas of his wife to remain calm.

Cop "He's just adding on charges"

Then while transporting the hogtied Daniel, he starts yelling at the cop..

Daniel: "We don't need Rambo we have Policbo!.. Hey Hey Policbo!"
Cop: "You know what we learned tonight.. your going to jail... I'm going HOME"

Cut to the cops arriving at the transport van and they drag the hogtied Daniel out of the car...

Cop: "Now STAND-UP"
Daniel: "How Can I????"

Just an instance classic.. burnt out cop who was sick of dealing with drunks and the perfectly obnoxious drunken guy as his foil.

The other good one was the hit and run "grandma" again in florida where she hits somebody and says it was trashcans and then she says the blood on her car is paint, and finally pleads why is she going to jail.
