Thanks. Yes, he did die too young, having lived the rock star life to the extreme. :(

Great article Steve. Very tragic end.

One minor point though -- I would have liked to have read about the women ( and children?) in his life.

Good point, but I haven't found much info on Grech's personal life. Ditto for other members of Family; Roger Chapman is married and has children, but I've always been unable to name them. Fortunately, Wikipedia articles can be updated and amended, so if and when I do find such information, I'll definitely post it. :)

 Very cool!! I would like to contribute an article for Wikipedia, since I use them as a reference for my rock and roll history entries.

Here's a picture of Rick Grech, which appears to be from the 60's. Interesting
that he plays bass through a Marshall stack, because I thought that regular guitar amps were not designed to handle basses, I was told before that the heavy bottom end of a bass would blow out the speakers.

Great pic!

As you all know, I have a CD of Family's early BBC performances, and on one track - one of the last recordings Rick Grech made with the band before defecting to Blind Faith - the bass line is definitely overloaded, with some distortion on a bass solo. (The icing on the cake was Grech's manic violin playing.) So Grech's use of Marshall amps doesn't surprise me.

Thanks for the "cool" compliment, Cap'n!
