|
View Full Version : If you watched the TV LAND Awards, i know you were laughing when John Amos said...... TVFactFan 03-23-2006, 12:00 AM "SHUT UP J.J" on stage when Jimmie Walker was running off at the mouth-LOL Brieannas21 03-23-2006, 12:01 AM I didn't watch it. I'll have to look for it when it comes back on TVFactFan 03-23-2006, 12:16 AM I didn't watch it. I'll have to look for it when it comes back on It comes back on Tonight at 11pm your time. John Amos said just like he did on Good Times, I wasn't expecting that at all, comedyfreak 03-23-2006, 07:59 AM I got to see the first hour of it, and taped the other since I had to go to work. It was great! The only disappointment was that, they didn't have Julie Newmar go up on stage with West and Ward. I did see the skit with JJ in the O.R. that was funny. Pitooey 03-23-2006, 09:44 AM I was glad when John spoke up. JJ was hogging the microphone and I wanted to hear from the others. TVFactFan 03-23-2006, 10:26 AM I was glad when John spoke up. JJ was hogging the microphone and I wanted to hear from the others. John Amos looks better at 65 than Ralph Carter does at 43-lol GARFIELDKOOL 03-23-2006, 10:33 AM Johhny Brown didn't say a word. But yeah, Jimmie Walker went on talkin way too much for a person who really wasn't close to the cast in real life. TVFactFan 03-23-2006, 11:13 AM Johhny Brown didn't say a word. But yeah, Jimmie Walker went on talkin way too much for a person who really wasn't close to the cast in real life. Honestly the Good times cast receiving the Impact award was the only hightlight of the Tv land awards-lol Brian Damage 03-23-2006, 12:24 PM John Amos looks better at 65 than Ralph Carter does at 43-lol agreed Ireneparalegal 03-23-2006, 01:18 PM John Amos looks better at 65 than Ralph Carter does at 43-lol Hell yeah he does. Ralph looks like an old brother of John's instead of an actor who played his young son... Good times and the Dallas awards were the best. But it seems so rushed to not let a group of people say alot more. It was too rushed for me. It seems the people who got "lesser" awards had more screen time. As for Julie Newmar, did anyone notice when Adam and Burt were leaving the podium and the camera panned over to the audience, Julie just sat there with this stern look on her face and wasn't clapping while everyone else was? GARFIELDKOOL 03-23-2006, 02:14 PM Honestly the Good times cast receiving the Impact award was the only hightlight of the Tv land awards-lol No, it wasn't. To me the other highlight was when Diana Ross sanged at the end. Everybody started singing with her. She still sounds good. nerrad 03-23-2006, 02:41 PM Hell yeah he does. Nice to see him in something other than them "TIGHT ASS PANTS"...DAMN HE LOOKED SOOOO GOOD. Brieannas21 03-23-2006, 04:30 PM I missed it again, I saw it when it was coming on, and when I turned it back on Diana Ross was leaving the stage. I watched at 9pm first to see if it was and if so I would have recorded at 1am I know. Like i said, for myself just seeing the Good Times cast and Dallas cast, that was it for me. I mean, the awards show has never been so good that I would want to watch the entire thing. From the first awards show, it seemed too looney, almost like a "joke" award. JeffRuss1972 03-23-2006, 11:19 PM I was really surprised and laughing when John said, "Shut up, JJ"-lol. Very good timing by Amos. I taped it mainly to see the GT cast. hatwink 03-24-2006, 02:23 PM I thought it was hilarious.Jimmie was running his mouth too much and John said the right thing. One thing I noticed is that Jimmie seemed to be bigger than John. ThomasE 03-25-2006, 12:46 PM I didn't record that garbage-lol It's coming back on this weekend    Don't your dare write that mess in this house! That "Shut up J.J.!", was out of nowhere. A classic second! Great freaking piece! If only we could see them again. A sit down interview on a talk show. Something. I was sad when they went to commer JeffRuss1972 03-25-2006, 07:52 PM Yeah, I really wish they would have had them onstage longer. Also would have been very interesting if Rolle were still alive and had been there. Wonder if there has ever been an interview with Amos and Rolle TOGETHER? A little off topic, but just curious. John Amos looks so much better than the two who played his sons. And Willona looked better than Bern'Nadette. JMO!!!!! Yeah Bern looks young, but I thought Jan'et looked better than she did at the awards. I guess it was Bern's ringlets, didn't like the look on her. I thought Jan'et and John looked good up there. But was it me or did the moment seem kind of weird with them all up there. And John thanking Norman Lear, the man that forced him to leave the show. JMO!!!! Ireneparalegal 03-28-2006, 04:17 PM Yeah Bern looks young, but I thought Jan'et looked better than she did at the awards. I guess it was Bern's ringlets, didn't like the look on her. I peeped it. I agree, that was the only highlight of the show. After they received their awards and gave a few speeches, I turned it off. JeffRuss1972 03-30-2006, 10:20 PM I didn't either. I'll have to watch that part again. That's the ONNNNNNLY reason I taped the awards at all was to see the GT cast. The rest sucked big time-lol ThomasE 04-01-2006, 01:13 PM The one segment of the show that I playback over and over again is James Ingram and Deniece Williams singing the theme to the show. I loved that. I hope that I can go to next year's awards. What did everyone think over last year's show? Ireneparalegal 04-01-2006, 02:21 PM The one segment of the show that I playback over and over again is James Ingram and Deniece Williams singing the theme to the show. I loved that. Brieannas21 04-01-2006, 02:54 PM I finally saw it last night, I turned it on right when they were showing clips of GT's and they announced the cast of GT's. John telling Jimmie to shut up was cute. I don't think Ralph looked bad at all, he looked good. retrochick9 04-08-2006, 04:57 PM :tehcool: :tehcool: I thought that was soooooo hilarious when John Amos said "shut up, JJ". OMG I was laughing so hard, it was like I was watching the show again. I loved seeing all of them, they all look so good still, especially John Amos, he is still sexy as hell!!!!!!!!! I loved the beginning of the show when they were singing all of the theme songs too. He always called him Junior. ThomasE 04-20-2006, 06:08 PM He did call him J.J. as well. He just did not call him J.J. all the time. He would say shut up, J.J. at times. Along with shut up, Junior. James only called him J.J during season 1 ThomasE 04-21-2006, 01:33 AM James only called him J.J during season 1 R U sure about that? I need to play some of these episodes back from the seasons 2 and 3. ThomasE 04-21-2006, 01:38 AM Amos said he was fired BTW, I was just joking around when I gave the "asked to leave" comment. You know he was fired. I know he was fired. Tracy the writer was being tactful when she said that "he was asked to leave". She knew he was fired. When I wrote what I did, I thought you would have thought back to the True Hollywood Story when she talks about him being asked to leave. I think you paid me back on the "One Day at a Time" board with the "Ginny Wroblicki" topic. LOL. TVFactFan 04-21-2006, 07:14 PM R U sure about that?
