Sorry folks, I didn't know it was my week. Okay, lots of questions here, so let's get busy...
What does TJL stand for? What's the story behind your username?
My username is my initials. Pure and simple. Thomas Joseph L*****.
My creative juices weren't exactly flowing the day I signed up.
What type of music do u listen to ?
Whats your favorite color?
What type of cloths do you like to wear and style?
What color is your hair?
I was always pretty much a classic rock kind of guy growing up, but my tastes over the years has changed a bit. I like lots of music, olda and new.
The Jayhawks, Wilco, and Joe Henry are some of my faves.
Black is pretty much my favorote color.
I'm pretty much a J Crew/Gap kind of guy when it comes to clothes. I'm white in my late thirties, Hot Topic is just not my thing.
My hair is the darkest of brown. It's glorious. On girl once told me it was very "grabbable."
I'll let you figure out what she meant.
;)
Which is your favorite Star Wars movie?
Good question.
My favorite Star Wars movie is the 19977 classic "Star Wars."
AKA "Episode IV, A New Hope."
Are youa comedian on the side?
No Jack, I am not. Right now writing stuff is just a hobby. Someday I would like to earn money for making up silly things.
Who are your fav MASH characters besides Hawkeye?
Oh please don't make me choose!
Actually, I have developed an appreciation for Charles Winchester. A really complex character who came into his own as the series progressed.
Brian Damage 03-22-2006, 09:04 PM How did the ;) get started for you? Did you always incorporate into your posts or did something lead you to do it?
does it bother you that ;) or any of the other smiles do not have eyebrows?
Shhh! They're very sensitive about that.
Aw Hell, talk about them all you want. They don't have ears either!
Some queries from Janice:
What's your earliest childhood memory?
Hmm. I rmember way back when my family lived in a small apartment when my sister was born. I was about four or so. Then Lincoln was assassinated and the whole country went to sh*t.
How do you envision your life five years from now?
Financially secure, Legally sane.
Are you a good cook?
I like to think i am. I try to make meals for myself as many time as I can during the week. I clip recipes. Yeah, the secret is out.
What is your style of dressing/fashion?
Nothing too flashy or baggy. No giant fit jeans or Any type of footwear that are referred to as "kicks." Simple white male stuff.
Have you ever been to The Gaf?
The Gaf? Heck yes! That's my Gaf!
Gaf my friends is an Irish slang term for "hangout," the place where you can be found. It is my favorite bar in Manhattan. Click the link in my signature to check it out.
What's your favorite kind of beer?
For years I have been a Heineken man, but in 2006 I have branched out to Guinness as well. A truly great beer.
Do you wish that the wink smiley was named after you?
That would be flattering, but the thought never crossed my mind.
Have you always been witty and all around hilarious? Like when you were a kid were you known as the class clown or anything...
Thank you for the compliments. Your check is in the mail.
I never was the "class clown," or anything like that. I'm pretty much a normal and serious person around people I don't know, and it's nice when someone who doesn't know that I write reads some of my work and is actually surprised that I write humor.
One person I know read some humor I've posted on the Gaf website (yes another plug for www.thegafnyc.com) and they come up to me and said "I had no idea you were funny!" I guess because my appearance doesn't scream "funny" or something. That's fine with me. A class clown always has to be "on" and make people laugh. I like to writing stuff and then sitting quietly.
;)
A bunch of questions from Pitooey, the lady in red:
Do you eat out alot?
I try not to. It gets expensive. That's not to say I enjoy take out from my favorite places from time to time. And if you're asking me out, then I'll pick you up Saturday night.
When was the last time you went to the movies?
Hmm.. Last month I think.
What did you see?
A russian sci-fi horror flick called "Night Watch." A horrible film.
What's your favorite clothing store?
Probably Gap. But I do find stuff I like in Old Navy.
Do you ice skate?
Nope. I tried when I was a kid, and I hated it.
Do you roller skate?
Bought rollerblades once, and I wish I didn't
Can you ride a bike?
Heck yes! I was quite the daredevil BMXer when I was little.
I have a bike and I ride it as much as I can around NYC in the warmer months.
I don't jump stuff anymore though. And I wear a helmet.
Questions from moeee:
How often do you read books?
Not that often. I try to, but I can't. Look, I can't read, okay?
What is your favorite color?
Black is beautiful, baby.
Have you ever visited another State before? If so, did you enjoy it?
Visited a lot of states. Had tons of fun. Except for Ohio. Didn't have much fun there.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Tough one. One of my favorites was when we moved from our cramped apartment in Jersey City to a big house in the suburbs of New Jersey.
Running into that big empty house was a thrill. Then the poltergeists started attacking us, and things really got uncomfortable.
;)
Have you always been TJL?
Yep. I have never changed my username.
I honselty can't think of another username that I would like.
How did the ;) get started for you? Did you always incorporate into your posts or did something lead you to do it?
I lead into it.
When I started incorporating sarcasm and deadpan humor into my posts, I was worried people wouldn't get that I was going for a joke, so the ;) came into play so you guys wouldn't think I was nuts. I still use it for that.
Although I guess by now most of you can probably tell when I'm goofing.
Right?
;)
See? Yeah, I was goofing.
Janice 04-09-2006, 02:25 PM For years I have been a Heineken man

Courtnee 04-09-2006, 03:23 PM Whats your favorite Curious George book? :grr:
Whats your favorite Curious George book? :grr:
"Curious George Does Hard Time."
It's a very sad story. Apparently The Man In The Yellow Hat never paid his taxes and George had to take the fall.

EmoJoe 04-12-2006, 09:57 PM do you purposely put the ;) smiley after every post or is it just sort of a habit?
do you purposely put the ;) smiley after every post or is it just sort of a habit?
Now, it's gotten to be a habit. If I'm trying to be serous, i'll leave it out, but that doesn't happen too often.
Sometimes I have forgotten and people have called me on it. I guess I'm stuck with it.
