View Full Version : Anyone surprised that the pilot for the Spinoff-"Jackee" is in the
TVFactFan 03-20-2006, 08:27 PM 227 Syndication Package? I thought since the Pilot was rejected and it never took off that it would never been shown in syndication. I thought it would only been in the syndication package if Mary was in the pilot episode.

Well, it was considered an episode of 227 so it would only make sense for them to include it.

I don't consider it a 227 ep when it was different opening credits and new characters. It surley didn't have the 227 theme song-lol
Mr. Television 04-19-2006, 07:17 PM It wasn't an episode of 227. It was just syndicated as one just like the Ropers episodes on TC .

Yup, just like Ropers ep new viewers will be confused ad saying-"Where is Mary, and Lester?-lol Just like I said at the age of 11-"where is Jack, larry, and the girls?-lol

The episode guide on tv.com includes it as the last episode before the season finale in season four. It did mentioned that this episode came on a Thursday night. I still would argue that it would be a part of 227 and the network could have ordered a backdoor pilot for a spinoff.
Do you remember The Audit episode where Lester and Mary spent the entire episode in the diner and we saw more dialogue from other characters? On TV Tome, some people considered that another backdoor pilot.
MikeLutton 04-20-2006, 03:32 AM now that u mention 3s company i think cross over on 227 would been funny have Jack n the Girls move in2 227.Saundra be all over Jack like Lana and mr Furley be talking to Rose the landlord and other stuff wil happen.

Well The fact that Jackee came on a Thursday Night, with a different opening theme, It can be considered a 227 ep.
Brian Damage 04-20-2006, 10:42 AM It is a bit weird. When I saw this pilot on NBC, I just assumed it was a new show, not an episode of 227.

Maybe the Jackee was included in the 227 syndication package because of PEARL making a guest apperance at the end. Other than that I can't think of why it would be included
Bullet 06-09-2006, 11:39 AM I felt the same way about the episode of Sanford and Son that didn't have Fred and Lamont but was about Grady.
Also the pilot for Empty Nest is out of place.

Well the Grady ep was a little different because we still saw Rollo and Grady was in the Sanford Home in the beginning of the episode. Sandra on 227 was in a completely different city-lol

Its not that different. Because if I remember correctly, Pearl was in this episode. She wasnt all through it, but she was in it for a lil minute.

I saw this episode on local syndication and it featured the 227 opening and credits. It all depends on how the syndicators mark it. Some like TVOne leave it as is and others use the edited version to blend in like a regular episode. I think NBC really had their hopes up that this show would be a hit with the audiences and they even put it on after Cosby, which was doing extremely well at the time.

Yeah I think if it is shown in syndication they should use the 227 Opening Credits like how the Three's Company Opening Credits is used for the First ep of the Ropers

Treats and surprises like that are good in syndication especially for first time viewers and loyal followers. I hate how some shows are butchered and classic footage is never seen again.

I remember hearing the closing credits of the Jackee pilot on TV ONE while I had my back turned, and I said-"That Closing theme doesn't sound like 227"-lol I was like what the hell is that?

I can relate. Its similar to the feeling of watching backdoor pilots for spinoffs and you wonder where is everyone. If we ever get more seasons of 227 on DVD, I wonder which version of Jackee will be on the disc?

I doubt if that Jackee Pilot would be on the DVD. Just like the Pilot of The Ropers wasn't on the Three's Company DVD
ThomasE 07-04-2006, 11:22 AM I agree Sol. However, if it does get a season four release, maybe the pilot we be added as an extra bonus. I am gonna try to get someone to tape the TV ONE eps for me. I want to get some unedited eps before the show is pulled whenever that will be in the future. I will also tape TV Land's as well when they air season 2. I already have season one on DVD.

I guest I was surprised because nothing about 227 was in the Jackee Pilot. It was a different opening and a new surrounding with new cast members. Tom please don't record any eps TV Land-lol

I'm curious to see how TVLand will butcher the Jackee episode. To answer the previous question about this episode, several episode guides do list this as an episode of 227 so if we do ever see season four DVD, it most likely will be included.

Knowing TV Land, they won't air the Jackee Pilot at all-lol

Your probably right, certain episodes have a tendancy to disappear on TVLand, lol.
