As far as I can remember, back in 1989, Janice supposedly graduated early? Personally I believe that Tannis Valley left because she was getting to old for the show, Jory Husain(Jarawahal) in later seasons had fewer lines to say. They probably considered him insignificant. I have no idea why Leslie Bega(Maria)left. She was good. They should have kept it the way it was. On the hand, Maybe they wanted to keep it freshened up with new people.

The official reasons for leaving were:

1. Janice - graduated early and went to Harvard, much to Alan's chagrin.

2. Jawarhalal - his family moved to California.

3. Maria - transferred to the High School for the Performing Arts.

The "puberty" thing with Tannis Vallely is true.

I do agree that Jory Husain was underused, and probably because he was an underrepresented minority.

As for Leslie Bega? I have a feeling she left on her own free will to pursue different acting jobs. She did many other projects after "HOTC."

And I do agree (here comes the cliche): "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Jory and Tannis's reasons are probably true, but I think Leslie Bega left because she got married or something. I know that married one of the guys from INXS and moved to Australia....that's where he was from. I think that's why she left cause she got married and wanted to do other things.
