It was the first season. Episodes 2-10? had Barbara wearing a larger veil across her stomach. From side on, you couldn't really tell that she was pregnant.

Unfortunately, the son she was carrying died in 2001. He was born in 1965.

It was the only child Barbara had. Very sad.

Yes, it was indeed the first season when Barbara was pregnant. In fact, right after Screen Gems/Columbia sold the series to NBC in Feburary 1965, Barbara
told Sidney Sheldon the "bad" news (he already guessed what she was going to tell him!!). In order to accomodate her "blooming" figure, they started filming as many episodes as possible beginning in April 1965 ["My Hero?" was the first]...and you can tell, with each successive episode, how many veils they had to drape around her midsection and how often Jeannie was only shown from the waist up in her costume....Sidney managed to film nine episodes before Barbara started to show TOO much by the end of May '65.
{The last episode before the "pregnant pause"- "Whatever Became of Baby Custer?".}
And yet, a month before she went into labor, they filmed "pick-up" shots of her in close-up to fill in those episodes where she might have revealed a bit too much figure on-screen.

Still, I have to admire the production crew for the way they masked Barbara's
pregnant figure. Believe it or not, she looked just as sexy during that period as she was AFTER Matthew Ansara was born! Don't ask me why....she just
looked gorgeous!!!
