This might seem like a dumb question, but I'm an ignorant foreigner so forgive me. I know Caroline came from Wisconsin but is there really a town called Peshtigo there, or was that just made up for the show? I guess I could go look it up in an atlas but I can't be bothered. It's just that Caroline always wore that 'Peshtigo Bulldogs' sweater and I just wondered if that was a real team.

Well, I'm from Wisconsin and I have heard of Peshtigo, and not just on "Caroline in the City". I can't be 100% sure if that's a real place, but I'm pretty sure Peshtigo is a real place!

Peshtigo is located a couple dozen miles north of Green Bay in Wisconsin. I learned this on the news because of an unfortunate murder that took place in that small town earlier this week. It's a little wierd that it happened there because Peshtigo is a small place, at least from what I know. And it's always a little shocking when a murder happens in a small town.

Peshtigo is not only a real place, but in the same year as the Great Chicago Fire, Peshtigo also suffered a huge fire. More monetary damage was done and more people were killed than in the infamous "Great" Chicago Fire, but everyone always remembers Chicago because there was a movie made about it and because of the legend about "Mrs. O'Leary's cow" kicking over a lantern to start the fire.
