only us old timers can rememberthe eating place called sambos

it was a regional chain, much like a perkins, or dennys

about 20 some years ago there was one of the first politicaly correct movemnets, and pressured the place to remove the --horrible name-- and they then went to sams

to save money on all the new signage

well that wasnt good enough for the group, so they staged sit ins, negative rumors and publicity, even some food sicknesses were highly blown out of reality

every place, even the $500 a couple places, will have a few cases of food ailments , yes even emerills has its cases, it going to happen

so eventualy the customers didnt come in the numbers they previously did, and the franchise went under

ever once in a while ill see an old sambos building , since they were all the same and unique to other buildings, ill remember the way it used to be

and this cartoon, had a hand in causing a franchise to dry up and blow away

i traveled the midwest and east a lot back in the 80s

sambos were quite common

seems there was a bigboy and a sambos everywhere

where i live , its a rarity to see a big boy any more as well

sambos was the very first place i ever saw that had bonesless chicken

now its hard to find a place that doesnt

i was in tennessee last year on the bike, we saw a old sambos,, that was open as SAMJONS

they recycled the sign with a bit of paint

looked like they didnt clean the place for the last 20 years, as i rode past

maybe there was some conenction between the sambos cartoon and general stereotype, and the sambos food place

i realy never knew what all the fuss was about

but doesn aunt jamamma pancake suryp have a very offensive trademark, add , and even their bottle--to many folks??

and i never hear about any fall out over that
