About two months ago I created a thread where I said that I felt that Prince is overrated. And I still believe that. However, for a while, Prince was one of the most important songwriters in music. Just listen to the 1999 and Purple Rain albums. And for my taste, I think Purple Rain has held up better then Thriller.

I chose Michael. I grew up with Michael and he was a very gifted person. Prince is good too but my vote goes to Michael.

In comparisons like this one, I tend to go with the person who plays his own instruments, so I went with Prince.

Um, it's called falsetto, and the screeching as you call it is not in all of Prince's songs. I mean I could say Michael Jackson goes around adding those weird hiccup sounds to his songs and sings in a high pitched effeminate voice too. You can suggest that Prince sounds like he's being castrated, but in your amazement over why Prince is winning this poll you set up, if you're looking for a serious answer, forget about the "high pitched effeminate voice," try focusing on the music each has made and maybe you'll get your answer.

Well, the quality of music should never be based upon the amount of albums sold.

I can't recall Michael Jackson ever playing a guitar live, but I voted Prince of course because he is also a true musician!
