I loved the beginning of each epidsode. Ann Marie would be somewhere in NYC, shopping, auditioning, frolicking. Then, someone would blurt out her, no this girl, no, not her,...THAT GIRL!!! Every episode. Very fun.

Shindigger 12-06-2001, 02:48 AM Isn't it amzing how many ways they came up with to start the show with that line? "THAT GIRL!!!!" It is always fun to see how they're gonna get to that point! JT 12-31-2001, 01:39 AM I liked that they credited her on a stop sign or something..... Shindigger 12-31-2001, 03:57 AM Yeah, that was pretty cool the way they displayed her name on the STOP sign in the opening credits during the first season. As a matter of fact, that first season opening was pretty classy all the way! Sean Snow 12-31-2001, 05:11 PM Yeah, I've seen five episodes from the first season and one episode from the fifth season, and the first season opening had more class IMO. But then in the fifith season they added words to "That Girl"....'Is that That Girl. She's mine alone, but luckily for you...if you find one girl to love, just one girl to love, then she'll be...that Girl too! TV Guy 12-31-2001, 07:08 PM The earlier episodes seem more timeless, while the later ones, with the mod clothes and hair, seem more dated. Shindigger 01-01-2002, 03:38 AM Hey TV Guy, I'm glad you wrote what you did about the difference in the seasons. When I was younger, I really enjoyed the 3rd to last seasons, and didn't really pay much attention to the first season. But after awhile, I started to enjoy that first year a whole lot more. The first year's shows were beautifully shot and included many unique exterior shots of Ann going about her day in New York. Also, the background music plays more like snippets of a jazz LP and in fact, seemed to make the show a bit more dramatic in instances- more than a few of the episodes of the initial season played more like a half hour drama with funny occurances than a typical sitcom. The best example is when Ann becomes understudy for her more successful pal, Sandy. There's a scene where Ann is walking home after "destroying" Sandy's dressing room and the music is so stark and intense, you'd think you had tuned into a more serious show than a sitcom. But I've rambled enough! The first season is my favorite and I agree, are timeless and less dated. But I do believe the show never lost on quality. The later seasons have some of the best, wittiest, and funniest dialogue anywhere. A very cool show! THATGIRLNGA 07-10-2003, 01:34 PM As a little girl, I LOVED watching That Girl!! Even though we had black and white tv, I thought Ann Marie ws SO PRETTY! Her hair, her eyes, the outfits and those earrings!! In particular I remember a pair of big pearl dangle earrings. I wondered how much they teased her hair and how much mascara they used? Just Kidding! Beth |
