View Full Version : Outside the station
magellan333 03-15-2006, 01:24 PM I've seen this show only a few times. Did they ever show scenes outside the one room of the police station? I think I saw a commerical one time where it showed what appeared to be a home, but was this common or a one time event?
tv star collector 03-15-2006, 07:05 PM During the first season, the action revolved around both Barney's problems at
the police precinct house and his home life (in the pilot, "The Life and Times of
Captain Barney Miller," aired on an ABC summer anthology show called JUST
FOR LAUGHS in 1974, equal attention was given to both). But when it became a
regular series, in January 1975, the family played a much smaller role (and were
eventually written out altogether). Abby Dalton played Barney's wife in the
pilot only; Barbara Barrie was his wife in the series' first season (her only
appearances in the weekly series).

if you mean did they show any scenes that took place outdoors, no they didn't. They also never had any scenes that took place in any other place in the station.
I remember, though, there was 1 other episode (besides the first one in 1/75) where part of it took place in Barneys apartment, and part of another one took place in Chanos apartment.
I just remembered, the second half of an hour-long episode was set in Wojos apartment, once. I think that one was also a pilot for a spin-off that wasn't picked up.
Scoobiedoo30 03-22-2006, 04:05 PM I watched every episode of Barney Miller and The only time they were out side The Station is when They showed Barney at home with his Wife.
treky 03-22-2006, 05:39 PM you couldn't have watched EVERY episode then, because I'm sure I remember him being in that scene that was set in Chanos apartment.
Scoobiedoo30 03-22-2006, 07:00 PM I forgot about when Barney was at Chanos Apartment Thanks for Remineing me about that episode.
jamesanthony 06-12-2006, 03:40 PM I have 2 questions:
There is an episode called Stakeout (or something like that). I think it is a later season show. Where is it set? Also, did Barbara Barrie really not appear on the series again after season 1? She was listed as a regular in the second season shows. What was the last episode that she was in?
treky 06-12-2006, 04:25 PM that's right; I forgot about that episode "Stakeout" from the first season. And, now that I think of it; there was also part of an episode after Dietrich joined the cast, that was set in a hotel room.

The episode I'm thinking about had Deitrich in it and they were in a hotel room. Deitrich made a comment about wanting to get off duty in time to watch a tv show (I think it was Taxi?) that really was coming on ABC that evening.

I never understood why Barbara Barrie received second billing after Hal Linden when she only appeared in 2 episodes in Season 2.
