This is from the roast of Carroll O'Connor. I put it here in the Sanford and Son board because it seems more active than the All in the Family board. Anyway there were a lot of guests at his roast. Nobody from All in the Family was there, but there was Don Rickles, Mama Cass, the president of CBS at the time, Joey Bishop, Rowan and Martin, Marty Allen and a lot more. Redd Foxx was also one of the roasters and its very weird seeing him and Carroll O'Connor together. Since they were both on Norman Lear shows it seems like the two shows are compared and so on. It is also weird because Carroll O'Connor is smoking a cigar so its like Archie meets Fred. Redd Foxx had one of the funnier speeches about Carroll. He wanted to make sure everyone knew that the rumor about Carroll O'Connor being gay was not true.

I remember Carroll O'Connor also guest-starred on an episode of the short-lived
sitcom, THE REDD FOXX SHOW (ABC, Jan. 1986-Apr. 1986). That's the only
time I ever saw them together. Perhaps if their series had not been on rival
networks (ALL IN THE FAMILY on CBS, and SANFORD & SON on NBC) in the
seventies, maybe there would have been a Bunker/Sanford crossover, which
would certainly have been interesting.

yeah, that would have been crazy. Maybe when Mike and Gloria moved to California, Archie and Edith could have stopped by to pick up some Junk. Or even weirder, they could have stayed at the Sanford Arms-lol.

It's kind of sad looking at those pictures. Two really nice men.

I see Mike Connors there too. I loved him as Mannix as a kid. I thought he was so handsome. I think he's still alive.

That really is a nice picture of them two. It's good seeing them embrace considering I read where Redd demanded Carroll's salary, and Carroll was jealous of Redd.

I got the roast of Redd Foxx too. I wonder why Carrol O'Connor wasn't at his. Come to think of it Demond Wilson wasn't either. When I get home I will post who was at his. I know Isabel Sanford and LaWanda Page were but I can't remember who else.

Mannix is one of my favorite shows, and I agree, Mike Connors was handsome!

I loved Mike Connors as Mannix when I was a kid. I thought I was the only one who thought he was handsome! I absolutely loved that show. Especially the episode when Peggy was kidnapped. Every day the kidnappers sent a picture of Peggy holding up the daily newspaper to prove she was still alive. Mannix cracked the case because the number of fingers Peggy used to hold the newspaper numerically showed the street number of the address of where she was being held. I thought that was the coolest thing.

Cool pics, it would have been great to see them together.
