View Full Version : Were you ever involved in any of your school's plays/musicals?
Mrs. Ducky 03-12-2006, 12:00 PM We're doing Footloose and it's going really well. We've already done three shows and the crowd loves us!:D I'm really glad I became involved in it because we've all become so close and I really think this was a good expierience for me. I'm going to be so sad when it's over.:(
Anyway, I was wondering: Have any of you been involved in stuff like this?
theshark8777 03-12-2006, 12:10 PM Well I was in my class play in second grade, does that count? I only did it cause I wanted to be on stage with the girl I liked :p
swedeace 03-12-2006, 12:18 PM No, I have never been involved during required schooling.
One of our business instructors at my college is a thespian, so he has a Theatre Club going on at the college and volunteers at the local community theatres. He directs the plays, and some co-workers and I attend to watch his directing of "On Golden Pond" based on an 80s movie. I've never seen the movie before, but I want to see the play. He's hooking us up with some tickets. ;)
But anyway, I told him I would like to try doing some comedic acting in one of his near-future plays. I would always love to be involved in "fake" plays at home with childhood friends, but actually getting involved for a real-life audience sounds awesome. I know I could do it because I just have to ask him what kind of requirements is actually asked of my input. I know it'll be a lot of work, but it'd be be worth some fun. I look forward to it.
MariposaLKB 03-12-2006, 12:26 PM I was never onstage, but I did work publicity for a junior high production called "To Be" (a modernized version of "Hamlet" written by a local playwright--really stupid actually LOL!), and stage crew for a high school production of "Dracula". I tried out for the HS musical "Guys and Dolls" when I was a senior--mainly cuz I figured it was my last shot and I had been in the choir all those years--but the director said he couldn't hear me from where he sat in the 4th row, so I was out! :(
gilligan fanatic 03-12-2006, 12:30 PM no, I can't act-lol
Janice 03-12-2006, 12:32 PM I was in two musicals in high school, but only in the chorus...background or whatever it's called. I can't act for crap.
Courtnee 03-12-2006, 12:34 PM tons of em...lets see:
3rd grade musical---Chorus
6th grade spring choir concert-- Soprano
6th grade winter choir concert--Soprano soloist
7th grade "generations" musical---the 80's
8th grade salute to the armed forces musical--speaker #3/Top Soprano
9th grade fashon show--Blonde girl #5
...yeah
Mrs. Ducky 03-12-2006, 12:39 PM I'm only a background person/dancer/chorus girl in it. I fumbled over my lines during the audition. Next year though, I'm gonna get a role!;) I'm already practicing for it.
EmoJoe 03-12-2006, 12:43 PM in kindergaren i was :D
i would do it but the problem is that i can't act. :p i'm in the band and chorus though so i've been in school concerts
James"Thunder"Early 03-12-2006, 12:45 PM I was never in anything, but I would have like to be in a musical. The closest I came was singing an arrangement with other kids at some sort of school assembly.
-*Forever*- 03-12-2006, 01:00 PM Let's see. In 5th grade, I was a maid. In 6th grade, I was a random student. In 7th grade, I was "Woman #2". In 8th grade, I was the bratty eight year old daughter.
I tried out for both Guys and Dolls and Crazy for You, but I didn't get a part. I was a party guest in Lady Windermere's Fan. And I totally should have auditioned for Les Miserables, but I didn't. BLAH. It was amazing though.
Cactus Jack 03-12-2006, 04:09 PM Let's see.. I was in a Christmas play in 6th grade, and soem others earlier
In middle school both years we did a new version of Scrooge, one year I was Young Scrooge, the other I was Bookworm Joe

Hollow 03-12-2006, 06:10 PM i was in all the mandatory plays in 5-7th grade, one of them being a musical. other than that i sang solo at my eighth grade graduation and i've been in countless school choir performances in high school.
snl 70s show fan 03-12-2006, 10:19 PM when i was in 6th grade i was in a gifted program at my school and all of us in the class did the play superfudge based on the judy blume book and as part of the assignment we had to all read the book and then collaborate on writing a play based on the book some people in the class found it boring i on the other hand loved the whole process
dawsongirl 03-12-2006, 11:41 PM Oh yeah. I was in every production except the musicals and the stupid spring plays that 2 seniors always directed. But I did direct that in my senior year. :D Ours was a hell of a lot better than the senior's the year before us. I also quadruple lettered in drama.
Brian Damage 03-12-2006, 11:44 PM In grade school, I played a king in a Christopher Columbus play.
Mijada 03-13-2006, 06:54 AM I wasn't involved in anything in HS but in 5th grade we did did Oliver! I wasn't an actor but worked behind the stage. It was a lot of fun and it introduced me for the first time to the Oliver Twist story. To this day I still love it. I participated in some small plays in second/third grade too but I can't fully remember what they were about.
Ohio8 04-06-2024, 10:28 PM No.
Hawkee 04-07-2024, 02:53 AM When I was a kid I had two dreams growing up one was being an actress and becoming a actress in commercials but when I was in elementary school I loved it when we put on plays and my very first play was Hansel And Gretel and I played one of the angels in the story and I had a very pretty angel costume and the first time they put it on me my costume didn't have angel wings so they had to make my angel wings in time for the show and my parents came to our play and Mom was so proud of me that day. My next play was James And The Giant Peach and I had originally auditioned for the role of one of James's aunts but another classmate got the part and so the role they gave me was one of the tourists James sees in New York when the peach finally makes it there and I did very good even though I had no speaking part and I just waved but it was a cool play. But I still dream of being an actress and does anybody here think I would make a wonderful actress in a Broadway play?
Dude111 04-07-2024, 05:18 PM I was in band in 4th grade but I got tired of it and quit right before a big concert........
I feel bad,I should have stayed with it becaue the guy was actually nice to me letting me join band..... He said they usually didnt take anyone before Grade 5...
I havent ever been in any plays or anything else.....
gidgetgrape 04-07-2024, 06:36 PM I was the narrator for all my school's elementary plays. This was an assigned position and at the time, it never occurred to me to that I wasn't acting in the play because I was on the stage the whole time. I was assigned the lead in a play in middle school (it was a small private school), but my mother complained to the teacher about where we were rehearsing (at a public high school across town) and the teacher punished me by removing me from the play completely. The principal got involved, but the teacher kept me out the play.
ThisLittlePiggy 04-07-2024, 07:22 PM I was asked by my music teacher to be the lead in my 3rd grade play. I played Gretel in a musical version of Hansel & Gretel. I liked to sing and I had a loud voice; that's why I was chosen.
