I don't care if they were celebrating the inventory or not, no woman is supposed to go to a restarunt with another man if she is married. Very Odd Florida Evans Moment if you ask me.

View Full Version : It was so inapropiate for Florida to go on a date with her boss TVFactFan 03-11-2006, 11:28 AM I don't care if they were celebrating the inventory or not, no woman is supposed to go to a restarunt with another man if she is married. It's not like they were all googly eyes, kissing and flirting with each other. Now her boss coming to her house without notice was inappropriate and wierd. TVFactFan 03-11-2006, 02:22 PM She went to lunch with her boss, I don't think it's inappropriate at all, I've gone to lunch with my boss. You do know that's a Date right?-lol No it's not a date, It's a date if there's romantic intentions behind it, it's a date if your trying to make some kinda of bond with that person. I've gone to lunch with my assistant and another woman that I work with, so were we on a threesome date? Brian Damage 03-11-2006, 03:35 PM I agree with Brieanna, it wasn't a date. There is such a thing as business lunches. TVFactFan 03-11-2006, 03:39 PM I agree with Brieanna, it wasn't a date. There is such a thing as business lunches. But do you go to that type of restarunt if you are on a business lunch?-lol TVFactFan 03-11-2006, 03:41 PM It wasn't a date Solomon. You sure, he seemed like he was trying to get his mac on-lol Brian Damage 03-11-2006, 03:42 PM You sure, he seemed like he was trying to get his mac on-lol Sure, maybe his intentions were wrong, but Florida went there innocently just to have lunch. Brian Damage 03-11-2006, 03:43 PM But do you go to that type of restarunt if you are on a business lunch?-lol I wouldn't even take a date there. lol TVFactFan 03-11-2006, 03:44 PM Sure, maybe his intentions were wrong, but Florida went there innocently just to have lunch. But she should have known something was up when she saw what type of restarunt they were in-lol Brian Damage 03-11-2006, 03:48 PM I disagree, if it were a dark candle lit place, then I'd say you had a point. This place didn't seem romantic at all. TVFactFan 03-11-2006, 03:56 PM I disagree, if it were a dark candle lit place, then I'd say you had a point. This place didn't seem romantic at all. Very Odd Florida Evans Moment if you ask me. My man says it's ok because it wasn't just any man, it was her boss. He has no problem and sees no problem with Florida having had lunch. She would have told her husband eventually and so what is the problem? If the boss had been female, what difference would there have been as long as they are two adults and his meaning behind lunch was to celebrate finishing work and Florida took him up on his offer. I went to lunch many times with groups of men, a few men, and even when it was just me and another man. It was only lunch. Now, you solomon may have an issue with it if it was your wife, but not all husbands have that issue. But her boss was MACKING her which is why she came home SINGING!!!!!-lol He was coming at her STRONG. Can't believe Florida was being MACKED-lol Brieannas21 03-11-2006, 07:24 PM But her boss was MACKING her which is why she came home SINGING!!!!!-lol He was coming at her STRONG. Can't believe Florida was being MACKED-lol So, she wasn't reciprocating He noticed that she had on a new outfit, how is it that James didn't notice? It's not like Florida had a closet full of clothes. Ireneparalegal 03-11-2006, 07:59 PM But her boss was MACKING her which is why she came home SINGING!!!!!-lol He was coming at her STRONG. Can't believe Florida was being MACKED-lol She came home happy because she came home buzzed from the SAKI!!!!!! She also was happy because she had a good time and he noticed her new outfit, he complimented her, etc. She had had a bad morning when everyone was nagging at her, yelling at her, etc. So, to go to work, go to lunch, and be treated with dignity and respect, made her feel GOOD. Any woman or any person after being treated like crap, having a crappy day would have been feeling the same way! You never mentioned the macking in your initial post. You said it was inappropriate for a MARRIED WOMAN to go to lunch with a man. That's it. I have been macked on but it doesn't make me happy or seem so High in the Sky...she loved James. ThomasE 03-12-2006, 01:55 PM I am torn because I was taught by someone that a woman should not have lunch with some dude that she is not married to, so like Solomon, I did find it inappropriate when I first saw this episode but if Florida had no intentions of getting with this man or flirting with him, I would not get angry. SOLOMON, you wanna beat up somebody, beat up Phillip aka "Puppy" Dalton. He was the man on "A Different World" that was flirting with Clair Hanks Huxtable and took her out to dinner. IMO he was trying to get somewhere with her but Clair made it clear that she was attracted to him(which made me mad) but was IN LOVE with Cliff Huxtable. She pretty much squashed his hopes. Florida was just acting like a teenager in that episode. A grown ass woman talking about a whistle in a crackerjack box-lol ThomasE 03-12-2006, 02:03 PM Florida was just acting like a teenager in that episode. Esther Rolle doing all that is kinda of hysterical. I can understand why James was angry. I would be a little suspicious myself if some debonaire dude came up into my house all suave and chummy with my wife if I had one but I would not mind if my wife had lunch in a PUBLIC PLACE with another man like her Boss. Tom did u get my question about the Jeffersons? I was asking do u have CBS eps of the Jeffersons. Yeah James should have been pissed ThomasE 03-12-2006, 02:20 PM No. I hadn't checked the Jeffersons webpage yet. I don't have any. The show off the top of my head from origninal broadcast are: Mary Tyler Moore, All In The Family, Soul Train with Richard Pryor. Those are the shows from the 70's with orig/broadcasts that I do have. I have other shows like Facts of Life and Different Strokes from the 80's with original broadcasts. But why would her boss try and be smart and say to James-"We had a good Time once your wife got comfortable on the Floor" I would have slap the **** of him-lol ThomasE 03-12-2006, 02:43 PM I would have been like, "excuse you, bro. man?" Ireneparalegal 03-12-2006, 02:54 PM But why would her boss try and be smart and say to James-"We had a good Time once your wife got comfortable on the Floor" I would have slap the **** of him-lol It's called being funny/sarcastic...making light of the situation, which is what it was. The whole plot of this episode was that Florida wasn't feeling respected...she got respect out of the last person she expected that from, her boss. How many people can say their boss respects them and treats them well? I had bosses that treated me to lunch for a good job I did. That's what he did. And it made her feel better, enough to actually talk to James abt how she was made to feel...that is something that she had before from James and she still wanted that feeling from him again. Sometimes in marriage, we tend to treat our other half like children, like anyone else, we don't treat them the way we did when we first fell in love, and that's what Florida wanted. and missed. From a woman's point of view, this episode was a good example of how a woman likes to be treated FROM HER MAN. ThomasE 03-12-2006, 02:59 PM What's going on Ms. I P. Whatcha talkin' abt Willis!!!!!????? LOL I have been a part of this conversation. You guys don't get what this episode was abt.  ThomasE 03-12-2006, 03:09 PM Actually, I understand it from both sides 100%. I know you have been part of this discussion. I read every single post and you guys got me interested in the discussion. What I was trying to say was that you re joined us this afternoon. As far as James goes, I would have been raising eyebrows. I also did say that James learned a lesson from the situation. "Treat your lady right and with respect is how I feel but I would have been like, "say what" as well. James felt like that and he learned from the situation. It is important that you look at it from both sides. Ireneparalegal 03-12-2006, 09:40 PM Actually, I understand it from both sides 100%. It is important that you look at it from both sides. No matter whether James and the family treated her that way, she still would have went on that lunch, and it would have been ok to do so. The boss had no intentions and neither did Flo. So this topic abt it being inappropriate is not really correct. Now, if James and Florida ever had a conversation PRIOR stating how they would feel abt if the other went out to lunch with someone else or something to that effect, then maybe Flo was outta line. But there was nothing that indicated that it was wrong. My man and I have these conversations that tell the other what we would tolerate and what we wouldn't tolerate. I wouldn't allow a friend of his to kiss me on the mouth as a gesture, but one on the cheek is ok. I think when a couple is together a long while, you get to know what your partner would want and wouldn't want you to do. ThomasE 03-13-2006, 12:19 AM Actually, I agree with everything you did say. However, James sees his wife coming home acting all giddy only to find out that there is some other man that made her feel this way, he has the right to ask what is going on if they did not talk prior to. I am looking at the situation from both sides and in all honesty, I can see it from Solomon's POV as well. They never talked it over, so I am sure James wondering why some other man has been out with my wife If some dude told me "we were fine once we got on the floor", I would raise a brow as well. As for James, I would have to hold him responsible for neglecting his wife's needs or wishes. I can see why he was jealous. It is too bad that it took some other man to show James where he messed up. I might have also eased up on Florida's boss as well. I thought James was mean, but he is protective of his loved ones and that is his nature. They both should come to some kind of agreement and James should make sure that he is not overlooking his wife's needs so he can be secure and not have to worry about someone else filling in the gap. Mutual Respect and communication is what they need. Ireneparalegal 03-13-2006, 12:24 AM Actually, I agree with everything you did say. Mutual Respect and communication is what they need. your last sentence says it all. When there is jealousy, that means there is lack of trust. Jealousy does not mean love. It means possess. I trust my man and he trusts me. I wouldn't do anything I wouldn't want him to do and vice versa. Had James not been so crappy towards Flo, she would have left to work in a good mood and returned home in a good mood.
