Ex-'Raymond' Alumni Try New Shows

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Two stars and the creator of "Everybody Loves Raymond" may be coming back to television, but not as a package deal.

Patricia Heaton, who played Ray Romano's wife in the long-running CBS comedy, is making a half-hour pilot for ABC in which she plays a widowed mom who gets involved with a parent-teacher organization.

Justine Bateman and Mo Collins also are in the cast, a network spokeswoman said Thursday.

Brad Garrett, who played Romano's brother, is starring in the Fox pilot "'Til Death" as a married man whose next-door neighbors are newlyweds, a Fox spokesman said.

A talked-about "Raymond" spinoff for CBS starring creator Phil Rosenthal didn't came to fruition. Rosenthal is working on "Play Nice," a comedy pilot for CBS about a brother and sister running a family-owned toy company. The cast includes Sara Rue, Timm Sharp, Fred Willard, Swoosie Kurtz and Tom McGowan.

All the pilots are under consideration for the 2006-07 season. "Everybody Loves Raymond," which wrapped in 2005 after nine seasons, won two Emmy Awards for Heaton and three for Garrett.

Too bad Phil's Raymond spin-off didn't come to fruition. I wish Brad and Patty the best of luck with their shows, I'll definitely watch them.

If it has got Patricia Heaton in it, I'm interested.

Can't wait to see Patty's new show!! She's the best!!

I will probably watch Brad's show too...but I'm not usually a fan of anything made by FOX...we'll have to see.
