For me, my favorite ep of GG's was (and there were really a lot of them) the ep with Lazlo the Hungarian Artist.. My god, I was rolling. My least fav has to be the ep with Rita Moreno. The channel is immediately turned when it comes on.

My favorite "The Actor" also the one where the girls are buying condoms (I think that was just part of a flashback show)

My least "Empty Nest" (the one with Rita Moreno). Nothing against Rita Moreno, it's just when I watch "The Golden Girls" I want to see the girls.

I think the Empty Nest episode is everyone's least favorite! All the fans I have ever spoken with always pick this one. I agree, nothing against Rita Moreno or Paul Dooley, but the fact that neither one of them appeared in the actual spin-off series of Empty Nest pretty much cancels out this episode. Consequently, I turn the channel immediately when it comes on as well...

Hard to pick a favorite, but least favorite definitely "Empty Nest" Funny how the actual show "Empty Nest" didn't start until the 1988-89 season anyway so that episode was TOTALLY pointless.

I am going to rate my fav. to least fav. episodes by seasons. I hope that's okay. I have several fav.-least fav. from the seasons. Here goes:

Season 1- I liked almost all eppys from this season so I am just going to name my least fav. from this season.

Nice and Easy- I didn't care for this episode because all it was about was Blanche's neice acting slutty. She was such a twit and so annoying. I did enjoy Sophia one liners in this episode pertaining to Lucy but that's about it.

Season 2-Same here, I liked almost every eppy but here are the ones I didn't care for.

The Stan Who Came To Dinner- I didn't care for this eppy because it was mainly about Stan and how much of a lazy sleazeball he was. It blew my mind how many times he cheated on Dorothy but supposedly loved her.

Empty Nest-Totally pointless episode, period. The show is called The Golden Girls and that's what I wanted to see. I didn't get that.

Love, Rose- I find myself not liking this eppy either for some reason. I know that it's a favorite for some people but there is just something about it that I didn't like.

Season 3-Now this season there were actually a lot more episodes that I didn't care for. It's a great season because the episodes that I do like are beyond hilarious. Here are the ones that I didn't care for.

Blanche's Little Girl- One reason and one reason only that I didn't like this episode is because of how Jeremy treated Rebecca, he was flat out rude and controlling to her. The girls were kind of mean to her too. I'm sorry but abuse whether verbal or physical really aggravates me.

Strange Bedfellows- I don't know why I don't care for this episode, I just don't. The only thing I like about it is the fact that Gil revealed that he used to be a woman. That was funny but other than that I didn't really care for it. I think it's because of the way the girls treated Blanche.

The Housekeeper- This episode to me was kind of dumb. I don't know why but it didn't really make any sense to me. There was really no point to the episode. The only part I liked was when Sophia asked Marquerite why she was putting a curse on Dorothy and Dorothy saying that they would all be turned into kumquats.

Bringing Up Baby-This episode I have mixed feelings about. I didn't like the fact that the girls were so cold toward Baby and the fact that they just wanted the money. They were being pretty selfish. I like animals and to see the way they were treating the pig kind of made me sad. But the part I liked was when Sophia was outside eating and was talking to Baby like he was Dorothy and then getting up to go inside when Rose came out to tell Baby to go eat his dinner. That was pretty funny.

Those are all the seasons I have so far. When I get more I will add more. All in all though, The Golden Girls is a classic show and I love it.

I have many faves but one that comes to mind is the one about the break in with Rose buying a gun. OMG that whole episode is hysterical. To think that these 4 went to a Madonna concert of all things. LOL

Least: Empty Nest, Mr. Terrific

Yeah, I dislike "Mr. Terrific" too. It's just not funny.

I love the one when Rose is dating the short guy from season one. LOL

There is definitely a parallel with most GG fans picking the EMPTY NEST episode as their least favorite to most Brady Bunch fans picking the KELLY'S KIDS episode among THEIR least favorites (especially since these episodes shift the focus to unestablished "neighbor characters" and limit the established cast to brief background appearances).

Although the EMPTY NEST episode isn't among my favorites, I can't necessarily say I dislike it either. Rita Moreno is always a joy to watch, the storyline with tension developing between a long-time married couple is certainly plausible (I probably could have done without the brother with multiple personalities), David Leisure was a hoot (and sealed his future role on EMPTY NEST), the appearances by "the Girls" may be brief but are still enjoyable, and although a LOT was apparently tweaked the episode was the basis for the spinoff that eventually became EMPTY NEST.

Favorite: I don't think I could pick just one, but among my top favorites are "A Little Romance", "Break-In", "Old Friends", "The Days and Nights of Sophia Petrillo", "The Competition", "Stan Takes a Wife", and "Long Day's Journey into Marinara". But really I love them all...there are only a few I didn't like

Least Favorite: "Empty Nests" is pretty dire, but I've always hated "Letter to Gorbachev", "Strange Bedfellows", and "Ladies of the Evening" more. And then there are some season 7 episodes that I didn't care for, such as "The Pope's Ring" and "From Here to the Pharmacy".

Least favorite: Mr. Terrific...hands down.....The Empty Nest one is also bad.

My favorite episode is "Valentine's Day"which they went to Sunny Meadows which Rose booked the hotel reservation. They were going on their cruise to the Bahamas which they were buying condoms. I liked the "Before and After" episode the most which Rose collapsed on the floor having an esphogeal spasm and got rushed to the hospital. Afterwards, Rose was going to eat life and live at the apartment located on the beach.

My least favorite episode is "The Truth Will Come Out" which Rose's daughter Kirsten lied to her mother about the will. Dorothy & Blanche told her everything will be ok between you and your mother. I hated the "Empty Nest" episode which they had the other different people which I'd rather see the girls.

The storyline made up of "Miles to Go" and "Witness" is sort of both a favorite and a least favorite of mine. I love the storyline in and of itself, I love the idea that Miles would put his life on the line to be with Rose. And the dramatic/romantic conlusion to "Witness." But it feels like two episodes of some other show were dropped into the series, because it's totally out of sync with the rest. There are several episodes about relatively realistic ups and downs of Rose and Miles' relationship, then you have these two dramatic episodes, and then they go back to the regular relationship episodes. They seem to have some doubts about each other, after their big happy ending in "Witness." I'd understand Rose having doubts about being with someone with that kind of past, but that never comes up.

And Miles' speech about how he got into the witness protection program is really weird. I can accept that a good person could get mixed up with the wrong people accidentally, but he says the only reason he turned the Cheeseman in was to save himself. And he's just too cavalier about "I have my life back." I can see where that could sound to Rose like he was saying the life she was part of wasn't his real one.

Did anyone else notice that we also never learn what it was Miles helped the Cheeseman do, as his accountant?

And why is it assumed that the Cheeseman has found Miles, just because he's faked his death? How did he know Miles/Nick was in Miami? Well, Miles/Nick does say he called friends...

"I'm not really a professor..." but some of the plot devices have revolved around his being a professor. Rose being afraid she wasn't smart enough, or finding some of his professorial interests boring after a while.

And then of course, there's the whole thing of how he doesn't seem to go back to his other identity. I'd like to think that was because he decided to stay the person Rose fell in love with. But in between "Miles to Go" and "Witness" there is an episode where Rose says Miles is away because he's on a college tour in Europe (the one about Dorothy and Stan planning to get remarried.)

It would work better if we could believe that the Season 7 Rose/Miles episodes take place BEFORE "Miles to Go" and "Witness," and that that story is the last thing to happen to Rose and Miles, so to speak.

Another one I don't like, for similar reasons, is "Midwinter Night's Dream." I wish it had turned out to be someone's dream, because it just feels surreal. Although I rather agree with Miles' comment that Dorothy is a better match for him, I couldn't believe, after all the other episodes I'd seen with him, that he would complain to Dorothy about Rose's quirks. Nor is it easy to believe Dorothy would kiss a friend's serious boyfriend, though there are indications in other episodes that she likes Miles an awful lot...

Love the ep where Dick Van Dyke shows up as Dorothy's lawyer boyfriend who wants to join the circus. I howled when he showed up in the courtroom in full clown get-up, including the red nose and the huge shoes. I can't think of a least favorite at the moment.

"The Flu" from Season 1 is another one of my favorites. The way they all snapped at each other while sick was hilarious.

I've finally seen the notorious Empty Nest episode and you're all correct - it is so boring and pointless. The only bright spot is David Leisure in an early version of the Charley Dietz character (named "Oliver" here).

On the flip side, I loved the episodes "It's a Miserable Life" and "The Actor". Those would probably be my favorite eps of Season 2. With the latter, I had a hard time believing that Dorothy would fall for his lies. Blanche, yes. Rose, yes. But Dorothy was way too sharp and smart to fall for such a smooth operator. The scene during the play where everyone discovers the truth is simply priceless.

One of my favorite episodes is "The Commitments". It brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear Rose ask Blanche "and how does all this make you feel?" and her reply is..."Like a lady."

I am shocked that the Bob Hope episode hasn't been mentioned. It's just implausible and downright stupid. What 60'ish woman is that wrapped up in a fantastic fantasy to the extent Rose was?
Not surprisingly, this one also contains IMO the most inexcusable inconsistency of the entire series - Rose saying Gunther and Alma NYLUND were her adoptive parents, not Lindstrom.

anyone say "Ladies of the Evening" is one of their least favorite? That one's a classic.

If I had a least favorite episode, it would be from the later seasons. Yeah, "Empty Nests" wasn't that great of an episode, but Blanche had one of her moments at the neighbor's house, talking about that professor of hers. :D

The episodes are so unforgettable; my favorite was from season 3 entitled the housekeeper haha! It’s all about the housekeeper which they fired and they thought that they got cursed. I really love the storyline of this show. I think this is the original version of Sex and City and the older version I guess, lol! Because it’s all about these 4 crazy old grannies who turned out to be roommates. Every single episode of this show never failed to make me laugh most especially Dorothy! She’s really crazy all the time. Blanche is so cool also. I miss these group of terrible girls and it made me happy seeing them once again from the DVDs I purchased at yourdvdcorner.com. The episodes are complete and quality was well-preserved. One of the most unique show I’ve ever seen, and for those who didn’t still catch this one, you should take time to watch this, you’ll certainly have a real good laugh and I bet it!

The murder mystery weekend episode was a fave. Also the episode when Dorothy's son slept with Rose's daughter.

Least fave can't think of any. ALL episodes were gold to me. I can imagine Bea clutching her pearls screaming It's the writing THE WRITING.....

Aside from "Empty Nests" (too easy to pick on this one, for various reasons), "The Commitments" would probably be my least favorite. I just didn't care for Dorothy having a fling with a Beatles impersonator for some reason.

As for favorites... my all-time Top Five (in no particular order) would be "Grab That Dough," "The Flu," "High Anxiety," "A Piece of Cake" (the scene at Mr. Ha Ha's is alone worth the price of admission, not to mention what seems to be a somewhat modified reference to Bea Arthur's "Maude" character when she yells, "I'll punch your heart out!"), and "Henny Penny, Straight, No Chaser."

Many favorites but if I have to name one; Goodbye Mr. Gordon.
Dorothy in love is always hilarious. And the whole wake up Miami thing. Brilliant.

Least favorite; Joust between Friends. Hard to watch Blanche treat her good friend so terrible for no logical reason and the pain she causes with that. They took it a step too far imo.

I love Joust Between Friends because it's interesting to see Blanche at work, and her insecurity is heartbreaking. But they make up at the end, so I really like waiting for Blanche to apologize to Dorothy for what a bitch she was being!

By far...my favorite episode is "Second Motherhood", from Season 1. This episode has more LOL moments than any other:

1) The opening banter between Dorothy and Lou, the plumber

2) The scene with Blanche exploring the private plane and pushing buttons on the chair while her beau talks on the phone.

3) The scene with Dorothy and Rose in the bathroom, with Rose dictating instructions from a manual and Dorothy doing the work. Bea Arthur's facial expressions at the mention of "...til scum runs down your elbow joint" is priceless!

4) The scene with Dorothy and Rose, trying to move the new toilet, ending with Dorothy telling Rose to get her 50,000 hebrews and she'd have it moved in no time. Rose then sits on the toilet to think and crosses her legs when Blanche walks in, and immediately walks out at the site of Rose sitting on the commode. Just great comedy!

5) The scene with the three girls while Blanche is relating the trip to Bermuda. Rose has a great couple of lines here. Blanche looks at Rose like she's just not quite right in the head.

No other episode made me laugh as this one.

Least favorite: Mary had a Little Lamb, the Rita Moreno episode, Blind Ambitions and the episode where Rose and het daughter argue over Charlie's will.
Other favorites: Ladies of the Evening, Goodbye Mr. Gordon, Nice and Easy, Dorothy's friend Barbara Thorndyke and the episode where Stan's cousin Magda visits and Blanche's sister pens a lurid novel that Blanche feels is about her life.

Old Friends is my favorite. Rose and Dorothy's Miami song is another.

I've never seen Empty Nest start to finish, so I can't rank it.

My least favorites are the one about the prize fighter and the homeless shelter one. Those places aren't co-ed!
