View Full Version : G, PG, PG-13, R, or NC-17 movies??
Brad Russ 03-08-2006, 05:53 AM Which movies do you think are usually the best overall?? My choice is PG-13 ones. I think PG movies are often too tame, while R rated ones often go overboard with sex and violence just for the sake of giving people cheap thrills. PG-13 films usually seem to rely on good storytelling more than rated R films in my view. What do you all think??
comedyfreak 03-08-2006, 09:08 AM I usually watch PG 13 movies the most, followed by R.
Kendall25 03-08-2006, 09:12 AM Does it really matter to Samuel L. Jackson!!!
Brian Damage 03-08-2006, 10:17 AM I perfer rated R, especially for horror movies.
dlemond 03-08-2006, 10:42 AM While a lot of R movies may show gratuitous sex and violence for the sake of their R rating, these are mostly bad movies anyway.
Any great R movie that would be rated PG-13 would have been irreparably damaged (edited) because of the rating code.
And I don't think that should interfere with making the best film possible.
Zebra 3 03-08-2006, 12:40 PM I find there's good and crappy movies in every rating category listed.
EmoJoe 03-08-2006, 11:14 PM PG-13
G is (for the most part) for little kids
PG is probably the second best but a lot of times their still kid-orientated
PG-13 is the best. Its not too dirty but its not too kiddish either
R is too gruesome sometimes, and im...scared of things like that, so yeah. R isnt a good choice for me. im not allowed to watch them anyway
NC-17...never seen anything out of that category and dont plan to.
Karen* 03-09-2006, 02:50 AM I always tend to like PG-13 movies the best. I can't stand to watch R-rated war films or horror movies.
Race's Girl 03-09-2006, 08:30 AM PG-13 movies rock
Cactus Jack 03-09-2006, 09:00 AM Some of the funniest comedies ever were R
Janice 03-09-2006, 11:48 AM I usually go for R rated movies. The hard hitting movies usually have sex, violence and profanity. What can I say, those are my kind of movies. :happyface
gilligan fanatic 03-09-2006, 12:01 PM most of the movies I like were made before there was a PG-13 so I don't know what to vote.
Mr. Television 03-09-2006, 06:42 PM Although I like all types of movies, I'd probably go with PG-13. Their's a lot of great R rated movies too but I think a lot of them are made just to get an R rating and they don't worry as much about story content.
James"Thunder"Early 03-09-2006, 09:12 PM I like G, PG and PG-13 mostly. I look at an R from time to time, but not much.
ABlairican Pie 03-10-2006, 03:05 AM I usually go for R rated movies. The hard hitting movies usually have sex, violence and profanity. What can I say, those are my kind of movies. :happyface:rock:
Nighthawk76 03-10-2006, 06:36 PM I usually go for R rated movies. The hard hitting movies usually have sex, violence and profanity. What can I say, those are my kind of movies. :happyface
You took the words right out of my mouth, Janice.
Fleet 03-11-2006, 03:25 AM I would go with whatever the '40s through '70s Westerns were rated as (PG-13?).
Brad Russ 03-11-2006, 07:44 AM R rated films would be my second choice. Especially ones with a message, like North Country, and Boys Don't Cry. As long as the sex, and or violence add to the story, (As in the case of the two films mentioned above), it doesn't bother me. For the most part, I'm usually just not into G, or Pg films at all. Don't know if Iv'e ever even seen an NC-17 one. Probably have, just can't recall.
