Well i hope they comeback for one more season but that really doesnt mean anything because ABC had My Wife & Kids tape a season finale last year and then decided to cancel the show after the fact. I hope this is not the case because i think this show deserves a final sendoff...

I second that. A season finale may also be a series finale.
CBS has renewed 14 series for next season on monday. Not on the List yet: The King of Queens.

'KING' KEVIN TAKES ON CBS

By DON KAPLAN
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 8, 2006 -- A behind-the-scenes con tract war has broken out between the blue-collar sitcom "The King of Queens" and CBS.
When the network annouced this week that it was renewing 14 shows next season, the long-running Kevin James comedy was conspicuously missing.

The show has become one of the most-watched comedies on TV and a lead-off hitter for CBS' Monday night schedule.

But after eight seasons, the contracts for James and co-star Leah Remini run out at the end of this season. Currently, both make nearly half-a-million dollars per episode.

"If I were on the air for so long, and my contract was up, I'd be asking them to back the truck up to the bank," an industry source said.

And the clock is ticking.

CBS will announce its new fall schedule in May, when the networks and advertising executives gather in New York about eight weeks from now.

"The first choice would be to have them back," a source on the situation said. "The network likes the show - thinks it's got creative legs - and talks are under way with actors."

But coming off a strong season of new comedies like "How I Met Your Mother," CBS is not in a "position of desperation," the source said.

Sony officials did not return phone calls and a CBS spokesman declined to comment.
 We'll be holding our breath for 8 weeks...that's along time......

If CBS doesn't get this done then....it's time for a boycott!

Ugh. This seems like it's going to be a repeat of last year, where we had to wait until the last minute to see if we'd get an 8th season. Just think of how many great episodes we would have missed out on if the 8th season never happened!

man i hate it when i get so excited then something has to bring me down....i dont think they will cancel it though cause its like the most watched CBS sitcom.

actully TAAHM is the highest rated show and both shows that have aired after it (OoP and CA) have had higher raitigs so it is actully the fourth best out of 7 so far with an 8th debuting this year, I love TKOQ and I hope it gets another season but I think its really doubtfull as cbs has confirmed 14 shows alrealdy they need to leave space open for new shows and this not being on the first list makes it even worse...

i really dont think 1 lousy show of the KOQ a week would make a big difference in a schedule

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much stock in a "season" finale, as it's billed that way most of the time.

Tonight, CBS has a "season" finale of Still Standing, but believe me folks, it's pretty much DONE as a show, so we can't read too much into KOQ's taped season finale, especially with CBS having more leverage than a network like ABC that needs to keep as many shows around as possible due to their lack of success breeding new ones. Here's hoping it'll get done, but you have to wonder with Kevin and Leah making about 400+ K an episode, where do you draw the line in the sand in regards to a ninth season? Do they get more than that for next season and just how much more? Could get interesting!

I know what you mean! I feel that if there ending, they absolutely deserve to go out in style, and the fans deserve it as well. They should get an hour pre-special before the series finale to look back at the show over the years, with commentary from the cast. Just like ELR got, and Will and grace are getting!
CBS better do the right thing or there gonna have some angry KoQ fans to deal with!

you would think but if they kept the king of queens and every other show that gets good ratings (pretty much everyone) then the only time it would have is 2 hours on sunday and two hours on saturday and they are developing more then 4 hours of tv, im not saying I want TKOQ to go im just saying when your cbs and every show you broadcast gets good ratings (cept for yes, dear and still satnding) you don't have much room to work with you know what I mean...

Contract talks hold up 'King of Queens'
Big News Network
Wednesday 8th March, 2006 (UPI)

The King of Queens was not part of CBS' renewal announcement this week because of a contract war with its stars, it was reported Wednesday.

After eight seasons, the contracts of Kevin James and Leah Remini are up at the end of this season, the New York Post said. Both make nearly $500,000 per episode.

If I were on the air for so long, and my contract was up, I'd be asking them to back the truck up to the bank, an industry source said, noting the series is one of the most popular comedies on TV.

A source close to the situation said talks were under way with the stars, but added the Eye Network is not desperate for comedy hits with new shows like How I Met Your Mother.

Hopefully CBS won't cancel The King of Queens yet. The show doesn't look like it's tired, especially episodes with Jerry Stiller.

WELL,ELR had 9 seasons ok, the KOQ iz sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better ya know it could last.
PEOPLE dont be so negative, but im sure the cast has bigger and better things. Well some of them might, but ya know Brad Garret (ELR Robert) havent seen him, or his tv wife (Amy). I really hope the cast of the KOQ stays busy if tafter the show ends because they will just stay in the dark.
