Although I loved Mork and Mindy at first,as the show went on there was more emphasis on the,"lessons,"in each show-and maybe Robin Williams got tired of the role, too.

At the beginning,he was ad-libbing his best because Mork was new and fresh-but as time went on,he settled into a rut and too many of the shows were indistinguishable from each other. As for the final season-I hated when they got married, let alone had a son played by Johnathan Winters!
(Even the voice of Grandpa Smurf was more dignified for Johnathan.)

I'm not certain if it got stale or not, the show did end at the right time though.

I think it was more the writing got stale and they made too many cast changes, but I agree with you Tommie - 4 seasons was as about as far as it could go.

Johnathan Winters on the show was not a bad idea, but the idea of his character did not work..

well, i agree. it did get stale afer mork and mindy got married, and it got worse when mork laid and egg and out came some old crispy lookin' dude which was supposed to be their baby, but no matter what, mork and mindy will always be apart of my good memories.

No one loved Mork and Mindy more than I did. I had ever magazine, I even had those stupid suspenders, but the nail in the coffin of this show was Mearth . I loved them being married , and I think it could have lasted with them geeting to know each other as married. Oh yea of little faith, let's get Jonathan Winter to boost the ratings. (What were they drinking,(oops) I mean thinking

Gosh, I thought I was the only one that felt that way! I first watched the show when I was six or seven, Mork's fine, Mindy's sweet, but to a six year old, Mearth is just scary. I had nightmares about my child coming out of an egg, fully grown.

Robin Williams did not get stale as Mork. What happened is the producers of this show made two huge mistakes that ruined the show. The first was having Mork and Mindy get married. The second mistake ( which just compounded the first ) was Mearth. The original premise was about an alien from another planet who knew nothing about his new surroundings. ( Your basic fish out of water story ). After the wedding and arrival of Mearth it became all about the relationship and parenthood. This change handcuffed Mr. Williams ability to addlib and go off on tangent. So it wasn"t Robin Williams that went stale it was the storyline and the writing!!!!!!

The character of Mork rapidly adjusted to earth culture, so there was little comic friction after that. Needed more happy days crossovers, and maybe a laverne and shirley one, too. <G>
