PRESIDENTIAL DISTRESS?: Broadcasting & Cable reports that Stephen Bochco, who took over show-running duties from Commander in Chief creator Rod Lurie in the fall, has possibly parted ways with the currently-on-hiatus series, the result of what is being deemed a "bad fit." "Bochco just wasn't about to take notes from [ABC]," a source tells the mag. Exec producer Dee Johnson has had the helm since Bochco went into preproduction on his pilot, Hollis & Rae — and that was always the plan, ABC tells B&C, denying that Bochco is a goner. The magazine also says it remains unclear whether Commander will return on April 18, as previously announced.

This was from TVGUIDE online news.

Well, it's back tonight, but will anyone be watching? I think this show is dead. I am more doubtful than ever about a return next season. How in the world a show can go from the #1 new drama of the season with rave reviews and huge buzz to being on Thursdays at 10 on ABC against two hit shows after a 2 1/2 month hiatus is beyond me. Stupid ABC.

WILL SHE BE IMPEACHED?

ABC is preparing to dismiss the first female president of The United States -- after less than a year on the job!

While it is not clear if the country is ready for a woman to take the title of COMMANDER IN CHIEF, TV executives at ABC have all but decided to pull the plug on the breakthrough drama, top sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

"No one here will say publicly that it's over [for the show]," a well-placed insider said this week from Los Angeles. 'But it is over."

The program returns this evening after a long recess -- with the president's husband groping an intern!

THE IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE: LOW VIEWERSHIP

ABC suits will not renew COMMANDER unless audience levels can hold a 15 share, a source claims. The show crashed from a high of nearly 17 million viewers for its second episode to 10.4 million for its last, Jan. 24.

Geena Davis as President Mackenzie was launched with much fanfare and topical news crossover:

A search of the NEXIS database shows 918 press stories containing the terms "Geena Davis" and "Hillary Clinton."

"On 'COMMANDER IN CHIEF,' art can now imitate life," cheered the SAINT PAUL PIONEER PRESS.

But at season's end, the New York senator's handlers are surely hoping that real life does not imitate the art.

I thought last night was pretty good... better than some of the episodes under Bocoho. Unfortunately, the ratings were not good.

The CBS dominance continued at 10 p.m. as "Without a Trace" scored a 12.3/21. "Commander In Chief" scored a 5.3/9 in its return, well below its average on Tuesdays earlier in the season. An "ER" rerun on NBC came in at 4.3/7.

When ER is new along with WAT, it's numbers will be even lower.

A little bit of good news though is that it did build out of the falling American Inventor.

Thursday is a crappy day to put a show, they should have left it on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm watching two other shows on Thursday nights.

This show is DEAD.

It's a shame too because last night was one of the best episodes in quite awhile. Next week looks awesome with Templeton as President, if it airs.

"Without a Trace" closed the night for CBS with a 12.2/20 at 10 p.m. "ER" averaged 8.3/14 for NBC, and "Commander In Chief" averaged 4.3/7 for ABC.

It was down from a 5.2/8 last week. ohno:
