Actually there were three versions: THE FRED & BARNEY SHOW, FRED & BARNEY
MEET THE SHMOO (featuring a character created by Al Capp of "Li'l Abner"
fame), and FRED & BARNEY MEET THE THING (featuring a teen-age version of
Marvel's Ben Grimm).

There was a 1970s revival of primetime Flintstones but a major (and still lingering,..:rolleyes: ) misconception is that they were redubs of the original episoes, these were done NEW for the late 70s show just as the 166 originals were for THEIR slots! ;)

NBC aired a series of new prime-time FLINTSTONES specials in 1976, 1980, 1981 and
1982: "Fred's Final Fling," "Jogging Fever," "Little Big League," " ... Meet Rockula
and Frankenstone," "New Neighbors," and "Wind-Up Wilma." The new episodes
featured Henry Corden (Fred), Jean VanderPyl (Wilma), Mel Blanc (Barney), and
Gay Autterson (Betty). Other voices were supplied by John Stephenson, Don Messick,
Frank Welker, Wayne Norton, Ted Cassidy, Herb Vigran, Lucille Bliss, Randy Gray,
Casey Kasem, Lennie Weinrib, Pat Parris, Julie McWhirter, Joe Baker, Jim
McGeorge, and Paul Winchell. These episodes were half-hour shows except
"Little Big League" and "Rockula and Frankenstone," which were one hour
specials.

In addition, the Bedrock characters appeared on NBC Saturday mornings on THE
NEW FRED & BARNEY SHOW (Feb. 3, 1979-Sept. 15, 1979; 30 min.), FRED & BARNEY MEET
THE THING (Sept. 22, 1979-Dec. 1, 1979; 60 min.), and FRED & BARNEY MEET THE SHMOO
(Dec. 8, 1979-Nov. 15, 1980 (90 min.). The latter was a 90-minute "trilogy series"
comprised of repeats of the components of FRED & BARNEY, THE THING and THE NEW
SHMOO. And (as if that weren't enough) Henry Corden also recorded new dialogue for
Fred, who hosted the syndicated package FRED FLINTSTONE & FRIENDS (a 1977 series
consisting of various H-B properties) ... not to mention all those Pebbles cereal
commercials!

In 1980, the venerable cave folks returned in yet another new Saturday morning show,
THE FLINTSTONES COMEDY SHOW, a 90-minute series comprised of six components:
The Flintstone Family Adventures, Pebbles, Dino & Bamm-Bamm, Captain Caveman,
The Bedrock Cops, Dino & the Cavemouse, and The Frankenstones.

Last (and certainly least) was THE FLINTSTONE KIDS (1986-1988), in which Fred,
Barney, Wilma and Betty were depicted as 10-year-old children(!). The less said about
the latter show, the better.

YEAH! Paul Winchell (1922-2005) Remember when HE (NOT JIM CUMMINGS) was Tigger! :cool:

Paul Winchell--ventriloquist/voice actor/inventor--was one of my childhood
heroes. I still have my Jerry Mahoney dummy that my parents bought for me
back in the 1950s! He was one of the greats from the Golden Age of Television,
not to mention inventing the first artificial heart. And, yes, he was definitely
the best Tigger! TTFN!
