At the beginning of the series: Mama has her room, Aunt Fran has her room, Sonia takes Aunt Fran's Studio for a room, and Buzz takes the attic. Excluding the attic, there are three bedrooms. However, there is an episode where Vint and Naomi are upset that they didn't get Aunt Fran's room after she dies. Bubba gets the room and they complain to Mama about being stuck in the basement. So did the writers forget that there was an extra room upstairs?

I have been asking myself that same question.

Oh my God, I can't believe I never thought about this! I hate to think that the writers overlooked something like that...but remember, in the episode where Naomi has "false pregnancy", Sonja claims that her room "is microscopic". So maybe it was too crowded for two people.
Also, just whose room did Naomi get ready for her wedding in? It looks too small to be Aunt Fran's, so could that maybe have been Sonja's room? Or maybe it was Fran's and they just made it bigger in syndication.

I believe it was Aunt Fran's.

because I have a copy of the NBC original and the part that was cut in syndication was when Fran was helping Naomi get ready then Eunice walked in and told Fran that Mama needed her downstairs and then Eunice offered Naomi her assistance in gettin ready.
