I absolutely love great quotes. Here are a few of my favorites:

"God takes away the world, that the heart may cleave more to Him in sincerity."

—Thomas Watson

"The winter prepares the earth for the spring, so do afflictions sanctified prepare the soul for glory."

—Richard Sibbes

"Afflictions are light when compared with what we really deserve. They are light when compared with the sufferings of the Lord Jesus. But perhaps their real lightness is best seen by comparing them with the weight of glory which is awaiting us."

—Arthur W. Pink

"We all profess that we are bound for heaven, immortality, and glory: but is it any evidence that we really design it if all our thoughts are consumed about the trifles of this world, which we must leave behind us, and have only occasional thoughts of things above?"

—John Owen

"I think that's where the church is doubly damned; when they use Jesus as a vehicle for achieving all of that [worshiping, pleasure, leisure and affluence]. Like, if you give a tithe, He ll make you rich. Why? ... If you give a tithe, you get rid of ten percent of the root of all evil. You should be giving ninety percent, ‘cause God can handle money better than we can."

—Rich Mullins

"I repent of ever having recorded one single song, and ever having performed one concert, if my music, and more importantly, my life, has not provoked you into Godly jealousy or to sell out more completely to Jesus!"

— Keith Green

"In life there are no borders and no limits, only our instincts can lead the way, but our hearts holds the finale destination."

Those are all some great quotes. Thanks for posting them up everyone.

These aren't on my list of favorite quotes, but they are a couple of the more infamous quotes in American history.

These are the last words of Budd Dwyer, a State Treasurer from Pennsylvania, who shot himself in the mouth on live tv during a press conference in 1987. He said these 4 words just seconds before sticking the gun in his mouth, and pulling the trigger. Sorry if this depresses anyone. :(

"This could hurt someone."

—R. Budd Dwyer

Here are the last words of a newscaster by the name of Christine Chubbock, who killed herself during her live newscast back in 1974. It was the first ever televised suicide, and is probably the most shocking quote I have ever heard. I still get chills when reading it. Seconds after saying these words, she put the gun to the back of her head, and shot herself.

"In keeping with Channel 40's policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts in living color, we bring you another first, an attempted suicide."

—Christine Chubbock
