A Gilligan Fan ss 04-25-2001, 11:46 PM My favorite characters are Maxwell Smart because he is very funny especially when he says "Missed it by that much" and "It's the old_______ trick". I also like 99 she is very smart and a good secret agent and I like the agent who hides in sofas, mailboxes and other places I think the number of the agent is 13 or 44 I'm not quite sure, and the chief is another one of my favorites. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif 99 07-03-2001, 04:44 PM My fave charactor is 99 Sean Snow 07-04-2001, 12:55 PM #99 is very funny, but smart! And Max is the same, well, maybe not the latter........ RCDramaQueenJC 07-17-2001, 04:52 PM Well, #99 cause she is Funny Max cause he is stupidly funny (and smart in a way) Next_99_Iowa 08-06-2001, 08:55 AM Id have to say all the main characters. Because they all play a important role with out one of the (86,99,orChief) the show would stink. But I like Max and 99 thge most. sjcoffman 09-26-2001, 06:08 PM Definitely Maxwell Smart and 99. Actually maybe not 99 (she's kind of boring) but Max needs her for his character. RussJohnsonsProfessorGirl 09-26-2001, 10:04 PM Ooh! Ive been waiting for this question! Agent 86, Maxwell Smart. Cactus Jack 08-04-2002, 10:16 PM Haven't seen much Siegfried sicne I just started wtachinng it last month, but so far mine is Smart!! Spygurl99 12-01-2002, 05:15 PM royal blue xxx OK, this may seem like an easy question to answer, but not that really to me. First off, mine are totally Max and 99. Mostly because they both depended on each other. One could not be complete without the other, and that's my favorite part about the both of them. 1.} Ah, Max..What can I say about him that's not already obvious? Don Adams was absolutley wonderful in his role as Maxwell Smart. Brilliant funny man. The fact that Max is clumsy can be a good thing at times. It's just another trait of him that makes him special. This may sound a tad bit weird, but my friend and I actually think he's hot. Especially when he scrunches his face up. AWW!! He's so adorable! He's just the find of thing I like in a man. The kind that can be manipulated.. If I go any further, though, I'll start to rant and rave. Another part about him that I like is his big heart. He tries to do the right thing all of the time. So he jumbles it up sometimes, big deal! Lastly, his relationship with 99. Towards the 4th and 5th seasons, I found myself watching just for the Max/99 relationship. Their chemistry was awesome! He loved her. And not just love. PURE love. (but who wouldn't love 99?) The perfect couple. You've seen how distraut Max was when 99 told him she was leaving Control to marry Victor? You know what I mean. Wow, that's really all I have to say about Maxie. Now on to 99!! 2.} 99!! I love her! She couldn't be anymore perfect to me. And even though Barbara Feldon doesn't want to be remembered as just 99, we all will anyway because she was so wonderful in her role. 99 had perfect hair (ok, so they were wigs..but only to Barbara!), perfect figure, gorgeous sky blue eyes, and plainly a knockout! And that she did to agent after agent. So she let Max take her credit! You would do the same thing if you were that in love with a man from the minute you saw him. In other words, 99 was and is a good role model for young girls to watch. They can become as strong as 99. Wow, I can't believe I wrote this much. I go off on tangents a lot. But, I say, they're Max and 99! The cutest spy couple in history!! Cactus Jack 01-26-2003, 08:18 PM Siegfried and Smart are my faves!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:  fubar darling 02-11-2003, 11:15 PM He was in only one 2-part episode but was--without a doubt--the funniest episode in the Get Smart run. Sid Kremm (played by Don Rickles) has to be my favorite character. A close second would be Jarvis Pym, Kaos' mad pharmacist played by Vincent Price. Tim Lycett 02-15-2003, 11:35 PM Definately Max and Siegfried are by far the best characters but I must admit I am surprised that so few people have mentioned Larabee. I think he runs a very close third behind the other two. The humour of this character was never given enough air time to be fully appreciated. JL82 05-10-2014, 09:14 PM royal blue xxx 2.} 99!! In other words, 99 was and is a good role model for young girls to watch. They can become as strong as 99. If you ever watch a Feldon interview, you might be surprised at how...I guess "dismissive" is the only word I can think of...Barbara can be about 99. She's called her "a cartoon character" and says things like, "mostly she just stood there." There ARE fight scenes where I wonder why 99 doesn't do more. (Spirit and Dr. T come to mind). As for being a cartoon, when I first watched GS I hadn't seen other more non-sit-com spy or detective shows. Now that I have, I realize that GS is practically a cartoon all across the board! Especially with how they handle the violence. And of course, Max is the most cartoonish part of all! But Barbara also does say that the number 99 signifies her being either the smartest or the highest-rated. I think she says that giving her the number 100 was discussed, but that 99 sounded more like a female number (I agree.) And there was something about it meaning she was almost perfect...like "on a scale of 1 to 100, she's a 99." Barbara talks about 99 being a little more "evolved" than Barbara herself was at the time the show started, and as she (Barbara) evolved and got more self-confidence, 99 did too. Well, I actually think the writers couldn't make up their minds about how strong or confident 99 was. That changes from episode to episode, or even from the first half of the episode to the latter half. She does seem more confident in attitude in later episodes, but she also seems more...cartoonish. She starts to do Max-ish things after they're married. (That's the premise of "Moonlighting Becomes You" but you see it in other episodes too.) And in the last season I think they couldn't make up their minds whether 99 was a stay-at-home wife or not. The thing of letting Max take credit is something that is today associated with NOT being a strong girl...girls are told NOT to do it today...but to me, it almost feels like 99 KNOWS she is smarter, or whatever, and she doesn't need Max to know it. Or she's treating him like a child, and prefers taking care of someone to having someone take care of her (even if he doesn't know it.) Plus, I think Max does praise her, and he thinks he's better but he thinks he's better than everyone - other male agents, too. He would probably admit that 99 is second-best after him! Not that Max doesn't make some smart (hah!) deductions on his own. He does a few pretty awesome physical feats. And it's funny that sometimes it's after Max has done some pretty awesome fighting that the Chief hands out praise to 99 (Casablanca, and Day They Raided the Knights for example. The latter is a favorite moment of mine, when the Chief acknowledges that CONTROL can't spare 99, to matter what! But it was right after MAX did most of the physical fighting!) Plus, I think it's interesting that it's clear in the pilot that Max and 99 are meeting for the first time...so it's not like she joined CONTROL just to be with him. Sometimes we HEAR about something she's done that seems kind of amazing, or at least, "non-traditional," like escaping on her own in Toyland, or re-wiring Max's apartment right before the wedding. |
