My mother used to tell that Jim nabors was also a decent singer, but I'd never heard him until that choir episode.

yea, I remember hearing him sing on "Gomer pyle, U.S.M.C." when I was growing up (I don't think he ever did it on "T.A.G.S." exept for that choir episode) and being surprised.

He has recorded several albums and had his own TV variety series for a while.

I saw Gomer sing live in concert right after Gomer Pyle went off the air. They had just opened the new Colusiem up in Richmond at the time & my mom heard about him coming & suggested we go. So I went with her & my dad. It was a nice show from what I can remember & his opening acts were Sgt Carter & Duke Slater (Ronnie Schell) who were both funny as well...

I remember some people joking sometimes, back when "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." was on, about how he could be speaking in his "Gomer voice" and saying things like "Well gooolly Sgt. Carter!" or "Surprase, surprase, surprase!!" and then turn around and belt out a song in that deep, operetic voice.

I know, the first time I heard him sing I was like, "What the hell?????" You would never imagine that singing voice and that talking voice going together, lol
