I saw a rerun of the original L'enfent segment from 13 years ago today(and taped it along with the following story about the bomb that nearly killed the captain's wife). I instantly though of so many parallels between this case and that case of Cindy James, wich has been discussed here numerous times.

While Bashir Kouchacji's torment was primarily in the form of nasty phone calls absent of vandalism and notes, there was that one attempt on his life when someone tampered with the wiring on his car causing an explosion. Later, they got more confrontational when Raj Tuil's son Richard was kidnapped and beaten, and with the threat to Richard's life scrawled on their front door. Still there are so many similarities that to give this case a glance lends a bit more credability to the idea that Cindy James really was harrassed and stalked for six and a half years, with people threatening to go after those close to her if she said anything, murdering her in the end when she chose to take matters into her own hands. After Bashir went into the Psychiatric hospital his business partner Raj began to get the hostile crank calls, and his son was assaulted soon after. Bashir had no idea who was stalking him, or why. It is only specualted that is had something to do with his imprisonment in Beruit and his opening a successful restaurant chain soon afterward. I am only specualting on this, but maybe there was a similar instance that prompted the stalking and eventual death of Cindy James. Maybe she was not the only target of the terror. It could have had something to do with her husband, who had ties to prominent international businesses from what I recall.

And as a final note, Bashir checked himself into the hospital and stayed there. Cindy left, and soon after made some claim about "getting to the bottom of it all", and it was not long after that that she was found dead.

I acknowledge that this is not so much a reply as it is my thoughts on the topic you raised. I have always wondered how many UM mysteries were inter-connected. You cited a good comparison where the MO's are remarkably similar. For example, if "L'Enfant" was as dedicated as he (although the UM segment suggests others were involved) was, doesn't it suggest that he targeted other victims? Yet, I'm only aware of 1 instance where 2 UM segments were linked after they were aired. I don't remember the specifics, but they involved 2 women who were murdered by an african-american male who was described the same way by eyewtinesses (preppy-style dress, short hair, muscular build). At least I think these were the cases, perhaps someone can shed more light on this.

On a separate note, the "L'Enfant" case was not only one that should have been solved, but it borders on negligence that more was not done to apprehend the perpatrator(s). No where is this more evident than the segment where the victim is in the behavioral health unit and asks "Do I have any message?" and the nurse responds "Uh . . . yes. L'Enfant called twice and so and so called and. . . " JESUS H. CHRIST LADY! CAN SOMEONE KEEP THE KID ON THE LINE LONG ENOUGH ONCE OUT OF THE THOUSAND TIMES HE CALLS THE HOSPITAL SO THAT THE POLICE CAN RUN A TRACE! ALSO, DO YOU MIND NOT TELLING THE PATIENT THAT THE PSYCHOTIC CALLER WHO LIKELY KIDNAPPED THE PATIENT AND HIS SON IS CONTINUING TO LEAVE THREATENING MESSAGES?!?
