I'm doing a research project on various rural TV shows and I was looking for some input. I have a list of some favorite episodes culled from fan sites and interviews and I need to find the funniest and/or most compelling scenes from these episodes. Also, I may have missed some great episodes in my research, so if you notice a glaring omission, please include the same info. My project and I thank you.

Citizen's Arrest (#106)

I would add the episodes "Fun Girls," "My Fair Ernest T. Bass," and "Dogs, Dogs,
Dogs." But probably the best one (and Don Knotts' personal favorite) was "The
Pickle Story."

Those are all great episodes but I would second the vote for "My Fair Ernest T" because we get to see two great comedians at work; i.e. Howard Morris and Don Knots, for the price of one. The scene where Barney is demonstrating "how a sophisticated, young man-about-town comes into a room" for Ernest T is just hilarious.

I have a few, but I will stick with a couple. "Three Wishes" and Convicts at Large.

'Christmas Story' from the 1st season was a wonderful episode. I try to watch it every year around Christmas...

I also like The Christmas Episode.

I've always thought "The Pickle Story" was dreadfully overrated...I love the show, but that was one of my least favorites. But I am in the minority in that, I'm sure. :) Anyway, my favorites are any of the episodes with Ernest T., Convicts-at-Large, the choir-singing episode, The Big House, and my all-time favorite episode is The Haunted House. Oh, and the "Fun Girls" episodes were a riot, as well.

My by far favorite episode of tags of all time would have to be "the bank job"

The Darlings were a favorite of mine. On one, Barney had to wear a black suit
and ride a horse to get Andy out of some trouble with the Darlings.

Another favorite is when Aunt Bea gets tipsy on some medicine from a traveling salesman.

I like The Pickle Story, Opie the Birdman, The Haunted House and A Visit to Barney Fife.

Really hard to choose the best, there were so many good ones. Probably two of mine were Mr Mc(something-I can't remember his name), but the phone guy up in the trees.
The other one has Barney thinking he can sing, so Andy has him lower his voice, and he thinks it's his voice coming through the mike, and it's the guy in the back doing the singing. Great comedy.
