I'm doing a research project on various rural TV shows and I was looking for some input. I have a list of some favorite episodes culled from fan sites and interviews and I need to find the funniest and/or most compelling scenes from these episodes. Also, I may have missed some great episodes in my research, so if you notice a glaring omission, please include the same info. My project and I thank you.

Episodes:
The Ladybugs (#27)
Birdman of Shady Rest (#110)
Author! Author! (#134)
The Valley Has a Baby (#174)

"Quick! Hide the Railroad!" provided some of Homer Bedloe's (Charles Lane) finest
comedic moments ... esp. the sight of him, with that look of determination on his
face, pumping that handcar down the railroad tracks!

Let's see --I recall hilarious moments:
Betty Jo's Hubby had misrecalled the color of the dress she was wearing the first time she said I love you. He said red. She said,"Look at the color of my hair. I've never worn a red dress in my life." He insisted, and told Billie Jo --and then, looking at her standing there, with her arms crossed, and LOOKING "cross," he realized that it was HER in a red dress, when THEY were dating!!! :sarah:
Ha!

And the ep where Betty Jo was going to give birth, and for some reason, they couldn't drive to the hospital. So Betty Jo engineered the train to the hospital. Mr and Mrs Douglas from Green Acres had a guest part, and Eddie Albert said,"Oh all right. But this is the first time I ever rode with a pregnant engineer!" :faint: :censored:

I know they used to have a ban on the word pregnant, but I wonder when they lifted that ban? On Dark Shadows, during the Parallell Time sequence based on some romance novel, the Lara Parker Character ( NOT Angelique, this time, another character ) was pregnant, and the Jonathan Frid Character ( NOT Barnabus this time ) said the word. :censored: :nonono:

Not sure, but interestingly, they never said pregnant on I Love Lucy, but one of the episode titles was "Pregnant Women Are Unpredictable" (of course, the titles weren't seen on the show)

I have to agree with you about "Quick Hide the Railroad". The look on Homer
Bedloe's face with he realized that the train was heading towards him was very funny. And he moving very fast on the hand-cart, with the train hot on his tail, to beat the train back to Shady Rest.
