Which part of the 'I Love Lucy' episodes did you like better? As a kid, I liked Lucy's comedy, but now I appreciate Desi's musical talent and enjoy his parts better. Opinions please.

View Full Version : Lucy's plot-centered, physical comedy or Ricky's interludial, musical showmanship? C_ME 02-28-2006, 07:15 PM Which part of the 'I Love Lucy' episodes did you like better? Larry Surrell 02-28-2006, 07:46 PM When I was younger I would usually fast forward through Ricky's songs when watching ILL on tape or change the channel (or mute the sound) during the songs if I was watching a TV channel. I wouldn't say that I prefer the music more than Lucy's comedy now, but I too have developed an appreciation of Desi's music and talent. While many sitcoms did lip sinking of the performances, it looks to me like the music in I Love Lucy was performed live, which is impressive. There are still some songs that I skip past; Fred and Ethel doing "The Varsity Drag", the gang singing "California Here I Come" and performing "The Woman is Smarter" are some songs that I still can't sit through. Kazza 03-01-2006, 10:30 AM Desi's musical numbers is what always had my attention. Lucy and Desi do great comedy together and Desi shines solo during many ocassions where there's no music involved too. |
