I know it's early, but I don't know how these things develop. I hope they at least include something remembering him.

View Full Version : Any word on a tribute to Don for Season 7? GrandGame1440 02-28-2006, 12:29 AM I know it's early, but I don't know how these things develop. I hope they at least include something remembering him. Auntie 03-05-2006, 10:16 AM I know it's early, but I don't know how these things develop. I hope they at least include something remembering him. Hard to say. I mean, after all, he joined 'Three's Company' a while after it started. It wasn't like he was there from the very beginning like Norman Fell and Audry L. Maybe they'll have a small 'in memory' for him,who knows. Mr. Television 03-05-2006, 12:13 PM Hard to say. I mean, after all, he joined 'Three's Company' a while after it started. It wasn't like he was there from the very beginning like Norman Fell and Audry L. Maybe they'll have a small 'in memory' for him,who knows. What's that got to do with anything? Janet Tripper 03-05-2006, 12:17 PM What's that got to do with anything? I agree!!! That doesn't mean anything I think they should he was a big part of the show and the cast loved him. I think that if even Lana were to pass they should have a small in memory of her. (Which I so hope nothing does happy to her) Madness 03-06-2006, 04:27 AM Just because he didn't start with the show doesn't mean a smaller tribute. He was an important part in the continued success of Three's Company! Chain Gang Member 03-06-2006, 10:06 AM I'm sure that they will since he's a very known successful actor Janet Tripper 03-06-2006, 11:12 AM I'm sure that they will since he's a very known successful actor Totally agree w/you buddy!!:D Auntie 03-06-2006, 02:50 PM Just because he didn't start with the show doesn't mean a smaller tribute. He was an important part in the continued success of Three's Company! The same could be said for the ones who played the Ropers. And they were their from the very beginnig of the show. They didn't have a 'in memoriam for them. So with that said, (not to be unkind), why should Don Knotts be any different from them? Mr. Television 03-06-2006, 03:58 PM The same could be said for the ones who played the Ropers. And they were their from the very beginnig of the show. They didn't have a 'in memoriam for them. So with that said, (not to be unkind), why should Don Knotts be any different from them? For one thing they had died before the DVDS started to come out. That makes a big difference. As as for the rest of what you said, Don was on the show a lot longer than the Ropers. I like them too but Don was just as big of a star on TC as The Ropers were. And I truly believe he saved the show because they needed a big name to replace them. Moonlight Lady 03-06-2006, 04:36 PM For one thing they had died before the DVDS started to come out. He had already gained popularity as Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith show. He sure did save the show. KissMyGrits 03-06-2006, 06:16 PM Also, Don was a bigger name in Hollywood than Norman Fell and Audra Lindley. He had already gained popularity as Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith show. He sure did save the show. I totally agree with you Katie!! Don Knotts had come into his own thru other roles. He was on many movies and tv. I loved him and of all the landlords he was my favorite. I think they will have a special tribute to him in the next DVD release!! Auntie 03-07-2006, 09:23 AM For one thing they had died before the DVDS started to come out. That makes a big difference. KissMyGrits 03-07-2006, 09:50 AM I'm sure that they could've found someone just as talented to take the place of the Ropers. They did find someone talented! His name was Don Knotts! He did a wonderful job as Mr. Furley! I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the part!! Hopefully they will do a fitting tribute for him!! He deserves it!! Michelle Moonlight Lady 03-07-2006, 10:04 AM I'm sure that they could've found someone just as talented to take the place of the Ropers. Wow, that's cold, not to be unkind. That's what they did when they hired Don Knotts! I agree with BlueMoonFan and I Walk The Line. I couldn't imagine anybody else filling the part either. Mr. Television 03-07-2006, 12:14 PM I'm sure that they could've found someone just as talented to take the place of the Ropers. I really doubt that. Don Knotts was a comic legend. They were lucky to get him. I remember when he was hired. I had been a big fan of his from TAGS. I couldn't wait to see him on TC. I'm sure I wasn't alone on this. The Ropers leaving could have been a JTS moment if they didn't get the right person. What do you have against Don Knotts anyway? Moonlight Lady 03-07-2006, 01:18 PM I really doubt that. However, I don't think it's right for her to put him down in a tribute thread about him. RF is my favorite character of his. Barney Fife was 2nd. RF is my favorite character of his. Barney Fife was 2nd. I totally agree!!! Even the producers alway said they wanted someone like Don to do RF and would have to turn down lots of others who audition b/c they weren't as good as Don!!! I also can't picture someone else doing RF!!! Originally Posted by Auntie I'm sure that they could've found someone just as talented to take the place of the Ropers. AND just like JOhn I believe he deserves a tribute on one of the next seasons!!! rodwayne 03-07-2006, 03:41 PM Well;you all been so busy nic-picking about the great Don Knotts that I bet you all fail to notice that N@N T.V.Land DID run a special on him for 48 hours stright,AND that not only did they show him on "The Andy Griffifn Show",they also showed him on 3's Company INCLUDING the episode when he frist show up as Ralph Furley. So,as Don Knotts would say himself,"nip it in the bud!!!" KissMyGrits 03-07-2006, 04:00 PM Well;you all been so busy nic-picking about the great Don Knotts that I bet you all fail to notice that N@N T.V.Land DID run a special on him for 48 hours stright,AND that not only did they show him on "The Andy Griffifn Show",they also showed him on 3's Company INCLUDING the episode when he frist show up as Ralph Furley. So,as Don Knotts would say himself,"nip it in the bud!!!" Did you fail to notice that we are talking about a tribute on the DVD's? apparently so!! The tribute that N@N did is totally different than what we are talking about. Please make sure to read the entire thread to get an idea of what we are talking about!! That has nothing to do with what we're discussing about here though. It's not just in this thread either. Auntie has been putting down Don in some other threads too and I just wanted to know what she has against him? Auntie 03-09-2006, 08:38 AM Wow, that's cold, not to be unkind. That's what they did when they hired Don Knotts! I agree with BlueMoonFan and I Walk The Line. I couldn't imagine anybody else filling the part either. Not for nothing, but I was never a big fan of Don Knotts. Not to be unkind  . I mainly watched the show because of John Ritter, not Don. And John was the show, not Don. Moonlight Lady 03-09-2006, 09:57 AM Not for nothing, but I was never a big fan of Don Knotts. Not to be unkind  . I mainly watched the show because of John Ritter, not Don. And John was the show, not Don. That's your favorite line isn't? Do you think that makes it okay to put him down in a tribute thread? Please keep it to yourself. nobody wants to read it. KissMyGrits 03-09-2006, 10:19 AM Not for nothing, but I was never a big fan of Don Knotts. Not to be unkind  . I mainly watched the show because of John Ritter, not Don. And John was the show, not Don. Not to be unkind, but I do believe the show was called Three's Company!! If not for the interaction between all the cast member's the show would not have been such a hit!! Don Knotts had alot to do with the success of the show!! If not for him I believe the show would have been canceled after the Roper's left the show!! Look at what happened when Three's a Crowd tried to make a go of it! Without the other cast member's it bombed big time!! It barely made it thru one season!! Yes John was a comic genius, but without the other cast member's it just wasn't the same!! If you don't like Don then don't respond to the thread about him! It's as simple as that!! Michelle Mr. Television 03-09-2006, 12:58 PM Not for nothing, but I was never a big fan of Don Knotts. Not to be unkind  . I mainly watched the show because of John Ritter, not Don. And John was the show, not Don. Not to be unkind. but their are a lot of actors I don't care for but I'd never think of putting them down in a tribute thread right after they died. You did it to him in the other one too. I guess that's the difference between you and me. Janet Tripper 03-09-2006, 02:44 PM Look at what happened when Three's a Crowd tried to make a go of it! Without the other cast member's it bombed big time!! It barely made it thru one season!! Yes John was a comic genius, but without the other cast member's it just wasn't the same!! Michelle  :yourock: I was running late to school earlier so I could'nt answer her but I SO AGREE W/YOU!!!! John may have been the star of the show but he WAS NOT THREE'S COMPANY!!!! No matter what anyone says!!! I repeat! JOHN WAS NOT THREE'S COMPANY....THE CAST WAS!!! Without everyone their (TAC) show failed!!!! And I also agree if they did a tribute to John they should do a tribute for Don and think John in heaven would want a tribute done for Don as well!!! Besides tributes IMO aren't done b/c we think somone is the best they are done b/c their co-workers,friends, and fans loved and cared for them!!! |
