Actually, I don't recall exactly what time I got up at the time, but years ago I had a job that I had to get up early for. I was MUCH younger then. :lol:

The up side: if you are an hourly employee, as I was, your quitting time is also early. My work day ended at 3:30pm; this gave me half of each afternoon to have a life.

Oh, and my pay was very low.

But... many jobs have odd hours: hospital workers, bartenders, stores open 24 hours, radio and TV news people, etc.

I use to do that when I worked for a morning radio show. Waking up didn't bother me as much, but when I got home at around 1pm, I was ready for a nap. lol

It's still a negative side to that, that means you would have to be sleep by 9pm-lol In my case case i have my own evening since i get off at 5pm

well, i end up going to bed @ 10 every nigh tand I get off @ 5 anyway, so i would actually like the early morning schedule better.

Getting up early only means having to get to bed earlier. If you are complaining because you will miss t.v. shows, that's different. But once you start a job early in the morning, your body will eventually adjust and you will wake up like it's nothing. It's no different than going to bed late at night and having the opportunity to sleep in.
When I worked as a paralegal for a firm in Calabasas (Los Angeles County) that was a 35 minute drive. I had to get up at 5:30 a.m. so I could get ready, see my kids in the morning, and get to the office by 8 a.m. hoping there wouldn't be gridlock or bad traffic. I then left the office at 4:30 p.m. so I could head home, change my clothes and be at my part-time job at a music store by 6 p.m. I loved my part-time job. I did it so I could keep my kids in private school. I would get out of that job at midnight. I wouldn't get to sleep until 1 a.m. so that gave me 4 1/2 hrs. sleep. Believe me, I was tired the first two weeks, but after that, I did that for two years with no problem. Your body gets used to it. Assuming you are in good health, etc.

Conversly, I have to go to bed before 9PM so I'm relatively awake for the next day.

5 and a half hours of sleep? Ten years ago, I could do that no problem. And I did quite often. Now, I can't do that. I'm not a kid anymore.

I know and I have a 4 month old who wakes up around 3 just for the hell of it I think. I think she loves playing mind games with me LOL.

But the upside of my job is that I'm off on Fridays so I get a 3 day weekend.

Well, what's the salary for medical residents nowadays? $30,000-45,000? I'd do it if I was a doctor, because you usually don't have a choice when you're a resident. But it's only temporary and my guess is it wouldn't actually be that early in the specialty I'm interested in, anyway. But if I was forced for a year or two, I'd do it. I couldn't do it for a steady job though.

I would do everything I can to avoid waking up at 4am to make a little bit of money. To me I would have to just find another job because getting up at 4am for $7.50 wouldn't be worth it for me. Would not be me

you get used it. I'm now trained for nights. I sleep usually from 3/4am to 11am. class at 12, work at 4, then come home at like 2am. I worked a few morning last summer and it wasn't that bad after you got used to it. I can't work morning now though, it would throw my whole sleeping patterns out of whack, I'd need like 2 weeks to adjust.

Since February of 2005, I've had a job that requires me to wake up at 5 am, though that's going to chance when I move to California. I'll probably be a seven o'clocker. :)

If it was a job that I really enjoyed and got a lot of fullfillment out of, it wouldn't really matter what time I had to get up in the morning.

pretty much NOTHING. i get up waaay too early to work and the pay isn't that great. but i love my job, co-workers and my customers, so i'm willing to sacrafice some sleep.

tomorrow i have work at 4:30 in the morning. and i usually don't go into work any later than 7:30.

but i'm a morning person, so it's all good.

plus it helps that i sell caffeine for a living, so i've got a perk me upper whenever i need it. =)

In Americorps I made roughly $5.45 and hr.

We ordinarily worked from 8am-5pm. But on one of our extended volunteer trips, they asked us to be there at 4am, to get an early start. People grumbled. Even the supervisor(understandable, considering he had to drive). I, however, happily went along. Woke up with a smile and a skip and giddy with anticipation(and perhaps sleep deprivation).

It was a good trip. We did good work. God, I miss that feeling...

For me, it's not about the money. If I have a purpose, and feel as though I'm making a difference, you could ask me to just about anything, anytime, and I'd do it with a smile.

On Monday's my work starts at 5 am and then the rest of the week I start at 6 am, so I get up around 3 am every morning. But then I go to bed very early. I'm a morning person any way. On the weekends I get up at 5 am.

The dad does it every morning. How does he do it?... Goes to sleep by 6 or 7 PM, wakes up at 3:00 to jog. Jogging supposedly wakes him quickly and keeps him up for the entire day.

I am usually the server and when I am a server I have to be at work by 4 to get everything set up before breakfest. So I have to get up for work usually by 4:30 am. Only once or twice a week I am the dishwasher and then I don't have to get up till 5. But to answer the question I make 8.50 and hour, but I do enjoy my job and the residents that we serve make it worth while and the good thing about being there so early is that we get off by 1:30 so I can go home and take a nap and still have the rest of the day off

Actually I stay up till 11 sometimes I go to bed at 10:30 but most of the time it's 11 and it hasn't botherd me yet I just take my crystal light energy drink with me to work and then I come home and take a half hour nap and I'm good to go.
