View Full Version : Adopting the lingo etc...
jpcanes 02-23-2006, 02:00 PM do you ever find yourself having a conversation with someone and that person will say something that will remind you of something that was said in KOQ?or you will respond to something that someone says with some KOQ lingo.
Example:I don't think I ever said the word 'brutal' till I started watching this show!
Carrie:"It was bru-tal.capital B capital R..utal."
sweetdiggity 02-23-2006, 02:57 PM What a GOOD point!!
I never said brutal til KoQ either:lol:
Another one I can't seem to get rid of is "YA" you know how Doug instead of saying Yeah, or yes, most the time it's...ahh, YA :D
also, when they're about to make a point, etc, they always say "OK, first of all...."
I think I need help:lol:
jpcanes 02-23-2006, 03:35 PM Another one I just thought of.Carrie has used it a few times.
"Ok,here's how it's gonna go down."
I've caught myself doing that a couple of times.:)
HuntingtonM15 02-23-2006, 03:46 PM Yes, I've used "Slap it high!" a lot. However, I've learned that "bilgistic" isn't one to go with unless you're talking to a huge fan of the show. :D
LivinLaarge 02-23-2006, 06:53 PM i find myself sayin "Yaspah". like if i get hurt or somethin
i also find myself sayin "ori-on-ni-on or oni-oni-on".

AhmedTaburov 03-01-2006, 04:17 AM i find myself sayin "Yaspah". like if i get hurt or somethin
i also find myself sayin "ori-on-ni-on or oni-oni-on".
i always have been sayin "its all good".
A question:Is "Yaspah" some sort of an inside joke of the crew(Cathy Yuspa)?
Thanks!
jpcanes 03-01-2006, 08:08 AM I'm not sure,but very possible.
sweetdiggity 03-02-2006, 06:49 PM I often find myself saying "oookay" like Doug says it!
Like when Carrie said "Your the professor?"
Doug: "Ooookayy, I'm the skipper"
where does it end? .......By The Way...where is everyone!
Have you all been wished into the cornfield? and now you're gone? (ep. Tube Stakes):D

Not to long ago a dropped a box on my foot and yelled out without even thinking i yelled...."SON OF A BEE!!" Did'nt Doug say that when Carrie told him his popcorn coupon was expired?

glenny 03-15-2006, 08:39 AM I recently went thru a relationship brake-up and i asked her why she was leaving me and she said she found someone else. I yelled at her, "You love him more than me!?" She gave me bakc a quick "Yes". I then said to her.."I can't catch a break." I then started laughing and she could'nt understand why i was laughing. I guess Arthur Spooner helped me thru the pain.

ipswannebe 03-18-2006, 12:18 PM I find myself using all of the words and phrases. Bilgistic, i'm in the same boat, don't use it to an outsider. I've gotten alot of nasty looks. It's so hard not to say those things, they are great. The word "Yuspa" is actually the last name of one of the writers or something, watch the credits! I have been saying "SON OF A MOTHER" alot recently!
LivinLaarge 03-18-2006, 02:10 PM yeah. ive been sayin YUSPAH a whole lot.
sanrio908 03-18-2006, 04:29 PM man ive been saying shee-on with most of my words. i made my class laugh cause i said all the water cycle words with shee-on.
jpcanes 03-18-2006, 06:25 PM Agita-sheown...
Enormo_TheClown 03-26-2006, 01:40 AM I'm a crazed, very crazed KOQ's fan and everyday it seems like I tell my wife..........SHUTTY.:)
jpcanes 04-16-2006, 06:44 PM my brother called me today and told me he got engaged over the weekend.
So I told him: "Congradtulay-shee-owns'.
sweetdiggity 04-16-2006, 07:00 PM my brother called me today and told me he got engaged over the weekend.
So I told him: "Congradtulay-shee-owns'.
Does he know of your addiction, or the show? or did he think you were nuts? you couldn't have said anything better. :D
jpcanes 04-16-2006, 08:32 PM Oh yeah,he watches the show,so he caught what I was sayin'. :)
sweetdiggity 04-16-2006, 08:41 PM :tehcool: It's only me and my grandma who watch it religiously in my family. I'm determined to turn my aunt into an addict.
Addict-shee-owwn. :D
jpcanes 04-20-2006, 04:37 PM conversa-sheeown on Miami Beach today:
Sara(to JP):"How's your Apple Martini?"
JP:"As Doug Heffernan would say,'Perfec-sheeown'."
Not to rub it in,but it is 89 down here today. :)
sweetdiggity 04-20-2006, 04:52 PM Take a look at yourself!! your KoQ addiction is spiraling out of control!
I'm glad the weather was so nice for YOU! About a week ago it's 84 outside, and today it's 51,hailing, and raining like hell.
Apple Martini? now I have to go watch "Lush Life" I love that one!!
(Fair Game) Doug: "Nothin' like a little alcohol to pull ya under" :)
ipswannebe 04-22-2006, 10:14 AM If there is a KOQ phrase I say it. I usually use the word yuspa, shee-on, or lately, lordy lordy lord!
I always say Shutty especially when my dogs are barking lol!
I add the "shee-own" to words as well and I laugh even if no one gets it.
Doug: (puts the breakfast cake on top of the fridge) "Don't get too comfortable."
jpcanes 04-24-2006, 09:17 PM and I laugh even if no one gets it.
I have to admit to that, too.
sweetdiggity 04-24-2006, 09:42 PM yeah, that's their problem if they don't 'get it'
You know what I NEVER said until KoQ came along?
'Kick in the cornflakes' I've been using it lately, when necessary.....
Doug:"Sorry if that's a kick in the cornflakes, but that's how it works sister!"
you know how Arthur says.."Well, that worked out well!" I say that all of the time, like him of course! lol
michellehw 04-24-2006, 11:51 PM do you ever find yourself having a conversation with someone and that person will say something that will remind you of something that was said in KOQ?or you will respond to something that someone says with some KOQ lingo.
Example:I don't think I ever said the word 'brutal' till I started watching this show!
Carrie:"It was bru-tal.capital B capital R..utal."
Yeah, I used the Arthur-ism "Chop Chop," on another site and I was rebuked and told to "Chop Chop." I don't think they had any idea whatsoever it had to do with "Arthur speak."
michellehw 04-24-2006, 11:53 PM I'm a crazed, very crazed KOQ's fan and everyday it seems like I tell my wife..........SHUTTY.:)
I do the "Shutty Up" --- maybe I've embellished Shutty???

JP, I know you have a forum dedicated to Carrie, but I have to say, I think I'm picking up some of Carrie-isms. Like I have no problem telling someone, "You moron." "Idiot." "Jerk." It's like really freeing...
And my favorite, "Crap."
sweetdiggity 04-25-2006, 03:54 PM JP, I know you have a forum dedicated to Carrie, but I have to say, I think I'm picking up some of Carrie-isms. Like I have no problem telling someone, "You moron." "Idiot." "Jerk." It's like really freeing...

Me too, although I throw in a 'frickin' in front of everything:lol:
'frickin' idiot'
'frickin' moron'
see? it's fun!
sanrio908 04-26-2006, 02:39 PM i also put frickin in front of everything and i also say damn the way deacon does
LivinLaarge 04-26-2006, 05:54 PM "you Friggin MORAN!" gotta put the g's in there. then its all carrie
sweetdiggity 05-07-2006, 05:54 PM Deacon has said 'Yenta' several times, and I use it when the situation calls for it. It's like bilgistic, nobody knows what it means.
Our lives could be that much easier if more people watched the show.:)
jpcanes 05-10-2006, 11:34 PM check out this person's screen name.Above her picture.

jpcanes 05-16-2006, 06:34 PM Now that's some quick thinkin'. ;)
jpcanes 08-17-2006, 10:51 PM My friend and I just got back from Target and we bought an 8 pack of Sharpie markers. I only wanted the red one, so i took it out and handed him the rest and said: "Enjoy the pretty colors!"
I do believe that's the first time I've used that one.

queenschick 08-18-2006, 08:15 AM how about: "Son of a mother!!"
I find myself blurting out "Mother of ASS!" the way Doug does.
& Instead of saying "you" it'll sound more like a "ya" like "Do ya really?" lol. But I'm guessing that's the New York accent since I've been saying it that way since I could speak.
LivinLaarge 08-18-2006, 01:26 PM it is the way some new yorkers say you-ya,even some southern folks.well you should know your, from queens right QueensChick?
LivinLaarge 08-18-2006, 01:28 PM it is the way some new yorkers say you-ya,even some southern folks.well you should know your, from queens right QueensChick?
Or even the irsish "Want you lucky charms do ya?"
Ireneparalegal 08-18-2006, 02:08 PM I can't help but wonder if someone has overheard me and my boyfriend speak because I swear when I hear some of the stuff that Carrie and Doug say to each other, me and my boyfriend look at each other and laugh our asses off, especially because we know that is something we have said to each other.
The way that Carrie at times talks to Doug like he is a child (he acts like one), is the way I talk to my BF...I get a kick outta seeing this show. It hits so close to home.
queenschick 08-18-2006, 04:10 PM it is the way some new yorkers say you-ya,even some southern folks.well you should know your, from queens right QueensChick?
Yup, I definitely am lol. My accent isn't as heavy as some people though. I grew up speakin' the way I do now lol. Then again I'm only 16.
