I'm just curious when did boi spelling become so popular?
What exactly does it mean? I always thought it was boy.

It does mean boy, but it's just annoying internet slang created by who knows who just because it looks "cool." It's kind of like gurl, kewl, teh, etc. I hate it though. Just because you're on the internet, doesn't mean grammar rules don't apply anymore.

boi looks stupid. looks like it's a Chinese dish of some sort.

:lol: Pretty much...before her song "Skater Boi" I didn't know the spelling "boi" existed. I don't like it...it looks weird. I don't understand why people spell it like that. Just put a y and that's it! It'll still be the same number of letters. And the y is in the same line on the keyboard as the i, so it's not like it's wayyyy out of your way. haha.

Boi is the worst internet slang ever IMO :(
and it's not even just internet slang. i know people that write 'boi' on papers and stuff.

It's also slang for a young homosexual guy, I believe.

That's what I assumed before, at least, unless it's just a coincidence.

(i'm not directing this to anyone in particular) you don't have to like slang and different ways of spelling words, but you really can't belittle people using them. that's just how most kids around thirteen/fourteen think, especially girls; spelling words in cutesy ways like "kewl" or "boi" makes typing and reading messages more interesting to them, and there's nothing wrong with that. they're likely to grow out of it in a few years. that's just psychology for you. and accusing them all of doing it "just to be cool" is pretty damn ridiculous too. it's normal for them to find it appealing.
