OK to answer some questions that I get sometimes about WHY i do NOT want to set up trades with people

1. sometimes if someone emails me they have NOTHING that i want or need
If its a slow week, i might trade for something that i Normally wouldnt----BUT for the most part, i do NOT want copies of retails, and i do NOT want most cartoons (there are some exceptions)--- SOMETIMES a trader will send me a list and i have ALL OF THEIR STUFF allready, and in that case they have NADA that i do not

2. sometimes people say " i have SUCH AND SUCH that you do not", HOWEVER, i often have that same item ALLREADY EN ROUTE from another trader, OR i might have that set BUT it has a bad disc or missing eps or such, and i am NOT READY to add it to my list, OR sometimes a set is being REDONE/REAUTHORED and so its not on my list-----

THERE ARE SOME TRADERS OUT THERE, who list stuff BEFORE THEY GET IT and then trade for it in advance and get way behind, I TRY TO ONLY ADD THINGS TO THE LIST when they are ready to be traded, NOT BEFORE

3. sometimes i am just plain too busy to set up more trades... I trade with people and may be swamped... sometimes its better to say no, then to get behind

4. sometimes i dont want to trade with people b/c i have heard bad reports from others about them--- JUST BECAUSE someone isnt on the Bad Trader list doesnt mean they dont have issues...... I hear a lot of reports, and if the person had 2 bad trades with people i know, i am hesitant to risk making it 3

5. ALSO--- just b/c I say NO one time, doesnt mean we cant trade later, i have done trades with people this month, that didnt have a thing i wanted LAST MONTH, so ask again, IF you get new stuff---- AND EVEN IF YOU DONT HAVE STUFF I WANT, I try to be flexible, there are 2 traders who had NOTHING I WANTED this month, BUT i told them "SO AND SO has this set, and you can trade him THIS SET, and so on...." and they did a trade with someone else, and THEN traded the new set to me----- ALSO i have been known to trade discs for other stuff sometimes, THIS MONTH I traded 40 discs for some WWE/wwf action figures!

6. sometimes I wont trade with someone b/c I have heard how they bad mouth me to others, or on other boards.... that is just my choice...... If you want to say what an A*%HOLE Lamont is on some other site, and then ask me for a trade--- you can expect to get no reply.... i dont mind TRADER CHECKS and i do not mind if someone dislikes me, no big deal, BUT there are some truly rude things said about A LOT OF TRADERS on other sites, and 99% of the time, it gets back to us

When I turn traders down I do it in a way where they won't feel like I being mean. So this is usually may response-"I don't see anything off your list that I need. Right now my main focus is Sitcoms/Variety Shows and News from the 1970-86 era" Once I say that the trader pretty much understands. I try to say no and what I'm looking for so if they ever obtained something I wanted they would know when to contact me again. So the response I usually get from turning people down is "ok thanks for letting me know".

Everyone has the right to trade or not to trade with someone no matter
the reason. Whether it's past dealings, them not having something
or just cause it isn't the right time to trade. That's the right of people.

Getting bent out of shape and starting to whip out the bad trader tag
ends up making people look stupid. Too often people start to believe that
trading is a right and not a privlidge. Thankfully there aren't any boards
that have started to kick people off for refusing to trade with other
members. That would just seem a little silly to me

That WILL kick someone off if they defend someone. How silly is it to have a Private board, that doesn't let certain people join it, and then they let the members that are there
talk unkindly about others,

they have no problem with negative comments

BUT if anyone dares to speak out and actually stand up for someone, then that will get you banned, or get your post deleted!!!

THAT IS INSANE!!! Now, maybe it's just me, but is it a little bit off that all the bad comments that people want to make about a trader are welcome, BUT GOD FORBID THAT someone actually say something nice about that person-- THAT HAS TO BE REMOVED!!!!

now i have no hard feelings toward anyone, BUT i do think that that is going a little too far.... even if it's all in the name of preservation! :crazy: :grady:

maybe im not as polite as tvresearcher is and maybe i should take the time to email people and say no thank you not right at this time.... and so on

and im sorry if someone thinks that makes me rude

i used to accept almost all trade offers, for stuff i didnt really want
and ive put a stop to that b/c i have boxes of junk i traded for that i dont ever do a thing with

I can see how some people get annoyed when rejected because some traders don't ever respond to emails or just flat out ignore you. That happened a lot when i was a newbie. Some traders just act like they are afraid to say-"i'm not interested"-lol All they have to do is say they are not interested in anything off your list and just give an idea of the things they are looking for

Here's an idea ...

Do like pro athlete's do when they start getting ripped on talk radio or in the printed media. They stop listening and reading the papers.

STOP READING THE MESSAGE BOARDS !

You can not be universally loved by everyone in the trading community (even though you try harder than any person I know). Learn to accept it and get over your CPS obsession.

well i would prefer people to all love me and i do try hard

but i dont really mind if someone cant stand me, i just do not like the 2 faced-ness of it all

I can understand where Lamont is coming from. I was on the CPS board this morning and saw Lamont and Loren being crucified. Loren was called a money whore, just about everyone who has dealt with Lamont has been ripped off and both use strong arm tactics on newbies. Of course it's easy to villify someone when they are not there to defend themselves.

My collection is almost exclusively from the 50's and 60's so I have very few folks I trade with. Since Lamont & Loren do acquire items from that period, I have traded with both of them. In fact I have spoken to each on the phone on numerous times. As far as trades Loren, if spoken to in the morning ships that day and Lamont the following day. My concern is the quality of the goods, the turnaround, and if they delivered what they promised. In that sense they have been perfect. My least cvoncern is did they author it, where they got it, are they selling it, etc. I feel it's really none of my business.

It's real easy to slam someone when they are not a member and can't defend themselves.

My post was deleted, I was removed from the board and the list owner accused me of being a grumpy old man. Guess you can't praise those the owner dislikes.

Well I'm surprised that certain member is still able to trade here

this board does not just ban people without merit b/c they are not popular

we actually have a set of rules that we follow and we enforce them
maybe not as well as we could and maybe this board is not perfect, but at least a set of rules are in place to keep it fair

i have No problem with the "other trade" board, and to be honest, i would prefer to be a member than not

BUT I guess that the powers that be must have a problem with me that I am not aware of

I urge anyone (i wont name names) that has control "over there" to contact me direct and let me know what i did to get on the "S" list

I'm on everyone's list-lol Nothing New

The simple fact is, when you run a board you are entitled to run it how you want.

Rules don't always get agreed upon, look at what happened with me and Solomon.
I followed the rules blindly, without exception and my decision was overturned.

Am I an aweful person? No.
Even Retro forgave me.

Rules are set up as guidelines, and should be guidelines, nothing is set in stone in the trading world.
Good traders become bad, bad traders become good.

I dont have a problem with someone not liking another user.
I dont even have a problem with someone setting up an group that is invitation only.

But what happens with that is that people feel special, and they can let that go to their head.
That can cause issues.

Another aspect is it divides loyalty.

Obviouslly this morning, someone "told" lamont what was being said.
And rumors were spread on whom that was, and another user bit the dust.
I am sure that wasnt the only reasoning, I would hope not.
But many traders overlap into boards-
I have members on my site that are on both CPS and Sitcoms.
I have seem some members from Yahoo groups here, but not there, and vice versa.

When you have so many people, people become friends, kinship, etc.
And when they see someone being discussed-
They share.
Sometimes becuase they agree with the decision, sometimes to taunt, othertimes it can be for positive reasons of wanting to bring something to someones attention.

Regardless it gets whispering starting, and that causes a lot of issues for boards.

And when that happens, reputations falter-

Some people are suspected of "leaking" information.
Others are accused of not standing up for one another.
Some people are labeled bad traders, because the need only read something to believe it.


it isn't good. the outcome isn't good.


The truth becomes second to everything else.
