I read somewhere about Ray Vitte (Gene Walker, aka "Rabbit" the boarder) lately...
He died back in 1983 as a direct result of a scuffle with the LAPD.
When I read this story, I immediately thought of the Rodney King scenario... it WAS really upsetting to learn about.
:(

I don't remember exactly how I found out (I'm thinking Jet magazine), but it was back then when it happened when I heard about Ray Vitte's death. It was a shock.

Can someone find a legit story abt this. I seem to recall that he did have a scuffle with police, but he died many hours later at his Studio City apartment. The cause of death was liver degeneration. I seem to recall many different stories and yet, never knew which was correct.

Find a legit story about the liver degeneration, and perhaps we can compare some notes about what REALLY happened to the dude.
All I know about it is from what I've read in brief detail from the IMdb database, on him.
There seems to be many different versions on one person's life story, it's kinda startling sometimes. (No matter whom it may be!)
Anyhow.

That's the thing though with this Vitte's death. It's as mysterious as Marilyn Monroe's death. I searched different sites and some say the police beating, some say the police beating and then later he died at home with his wife present; she found him unconcious which led to the liver degeneration theory; another said his family was hiring a lawyer because of the fact that he did scuffle with the police and because he died several hours later, they feel the beating caused internal damage; I don't get it. Why can't after all these years, we get a straight story?

I went to IMDB and it says "Died after a scuffle with the LAPD on the evening of February 20, 1983."

TV.com says "Shot by L. A. police after a scuffle at a party"

Not much detail, either way he died because of something that happened with the LAPD

But do u see how two different stories are given for an actor who died over 20 years ago? You would think that you could look up something abt this person and have the story correct. Dying after a scuffle can mean right then and there on the spot, dying after a scuffle can mean hours later after the fact; being shot is totally different than dying after a scuffle. This is just weird to me. I can see if the guy just dropped dead out of the blue, but if there was a scuffle and he suffered injuries, then I am sure after this amt of time, there would be something conclusive. I mean, different searches say he either died at home alone, home at home with his wife, on the streets, etc. it's so confusing and irritating as hell.

I heard he died when they put him in a chokehold, but like others said the stories differ
