I vaguely remember it. I think it was on in the mid-'70s and it was hosted by Richard Dawson. Celebrities would come on disguised in costumes and heavy make-up which were clues to their identity, and contestants would have to figure out who they were. The only one I remember specifically was Morey Amsterdam. He was disguised as the little Dutch boy (the legendary character who saved his town from flooding by putting his finger in the dike). Get it? Dutch boy...Amsterdam? It was sort of a stupid show but oddly entertaining, particularly when the celebrity was finally revealed since it usually involved pulling off a lot of latex and fake hair.

Edit: I was curious to see if there was an even older version (since a lot of the game shows I remember from the '70s were updated versions of shows from the '50s and '60s) and found that the original "Masquerade Party" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044275/) aired from 1952 to 1960. I'd never even heard of that one. Suddenly I don't feel quite so old.

I remember the 70s version of Masquerade Party. The show aired for one season in prime access in 1974 and was a Stefan Hatos-Monty Hall Production. The regular panelists who joined host Richard Dawson were Bill Bixby, Lee Meriweather and Nipsey Russell. Among the celebrities who were disguised in heavy makeup were Allen Ludden and Monty Hall.

But Masquerade Party goes back to the 50s, usually as a summer replacement show that had several hosts including Robert Q. Lewis, Eddie Bracken and Peter Donald. Among the regular panelists was poet Ogden Nash.

It's too bad the show isn't back on any network. This is a show that would do well on cable.

I think Audrey Meadows was a regular on the 50's version as well.

Yes, and at one time or another the show was seen on all 3 networks. Other hosts included Bud Collyer, Douglas Edwards and Bert Parks.

Very good in the 50's with Bert Parks, been trying to find the theme song, would know it if I hear it. One of my favorites along with "What's My Line?"

I have one episode of the 50s series, and one of the 70s series.
Peter Donald is the fifties host, Richard Dawson hosts the 70s version.

Thanks, but I wouldn't watch Richard Dawson walk across the street. I find him sickening, IMO.
