Okay, can I tell you all how extremely dissapointed I am that I couldn't find GAB yesterday!

Every other Tv show on dvd gets released here in Toronto, same day as the u.s. Jeffersons, Good Times.. etc. etc.

I went to an independent store who told me that they will be importing a couple copies in a week or show. I went to HMV... no sign of the dvd. Best Buy and Future Shop do not have it listed on there site. However I am gonna check this weekend to see if they got it in stock. Not even amazon.ca shows it listed. What a shame!! If we got Living Single, Fresh Prince.. I dont get why not GAB.

Anyone else in Toronto, or Canada got IT??

You know, I couldn't find GAB on the shelves either and the strange thing is that Amazon.ca has taken it of its listing of TV shows on DVD for sale.

Gimme a Break and All in the Family are the only two favorite shows of mine that I haven't been able to find in Canada. All of the other shows that I own that are listed in my signature, I have been able to find successfully in local stores or at Amazon.ca.

I emailed tvshowsondvd.com and got a response stating that Universal does not have the Canadian rights for the show. Very unfortunate. I issued a complaint to universal. I also noticed amazon is not carrying it, probably for the same reason.

Seems like it is not so readily avail. in the u.s. either because a colleague of mine was in Buffalo this weekend and walmart was sold out. They told her they never got many copies. Circuit City, Target and FYE didn't carry it.

I will check an independent retailer in my area who may carry it. Otherwise looks like I will be ordering it from towerrecords.com

I urge all of you GAB canadian fans email universal canada and issue a complaint. Let them know that we loved Nell and the show as much as everyone else.

Tynico, I'm so glad that you contacted Universal Canada. I think this should be passed along to http://tvshowsondvd.com/ so that they can post this on their website.

I had a feeling that getting the DVD rights in Canada was the problem and the reason why it was dropped from http://www.amazon.ca/ . Oh well.

Just a quick update for all y'all Canadian GAB fans. I manage to get a copy of gimme a break at a local dvd chain called "Starstruck Entertainment" A few local Toronto malls I believe carry the franchise. They had 2 copies in the store. I also managed to get a copy of "Living Single" there, which is hard to find. It seems like we are always deprived when it comes to urban entertainment in Canada.

In any regard, they carry alot u.s. imports. Great Store. Good luck to you all!

You can order it in Canada from CNL (www.thecnl.com). I went to the actual warehouse in Vancouver and purchased it yesterday. On their site, they have two listings for it -- one with the US release date, and another with a May 30 date, with a cheaper price.

This was also where I managed to find Charles in Charge, Lotsa Luck, and Petticoat Junction -- which I could not find anywhere else in Canada.

Good news, Gimme A Break is finally being released in Canada. VEI (I think it's owned by Universal Canada) is releasing the first season on May 30. Here's the link to order at Amazon.ca

http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000F8O32S/ref=sr_11_1/702-0124569-8191275?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance

Notice that the cover art is entirely different from the U.S. release.

Well do you think that this release might have extra footage than the one in the US version? I dont know why the US version didnt say it but hope that is complete.

There is no extra footage in the Candian release. The episode running times are all within 1-2 seconds of each other.

I just finished watching my set yesterday, it was great! Nice to see that VEI does plan to continue releasing Gimme a Break. I was able to get my set at the local Wal-Mart. The only things that I didn't like was that I had to turn off the subtitles everytime I had the disc in (I don't need to watch subtitles over my screen) and that the disc doesn't go back to the main menu after each episode is over. The next episodes automatically play after an episode is over.

I noticed that VEI has the cover art for season two of Hardcastle & McCormick, I wonder when it'll be released. I have seen season one out in stores since February.
