at lovely BHS we were stupid ass uniforms.

we can wear blue/white/green polo shirts and blue/white oxfords. then theres kahki/navy pants, skirts, or shorts. and only navy blue jackets or a school apporved hoodie.You have to have your shirt tucked in and a belt on or the princapal will give yew detention

We have uniforms too -_-. They suck. A blue sweater, yellow button down shirts, and navy pants. They make me wanna barf.

no uniforms at my school. There are rules, but what a surprise, nobody enforcers them.

I went to public school and they weren't too picky about what we wore. I remember not being able to wear shorts all through elementary and most of middle school but when the longer shorts came back in style when I was in 8th grade they allowed us to wear those. We couldn't wear tank tops or anything too revealing. I remember in HS this one girl got sent home for wearing garters. I personally think that a dress code/uniforms is a very good idea. Seemed when I was in school (and I'm sure things have not changed) kids were more interested in what everybody was wearing than they were about learning anything important. Everyday was like one big fashion show. RockPrincess, your dresscode doesn't sound that bad. When i was growing up one of my neighbors went to Catholic school and all she was allowed to wear was a plaid jumper and a white blouse. Your school seems a little more lenient.

most of the rules are against girls. they cant wear spaghetti straps, flip flops, or short skirts. no tank tops. also, no shirts with profanity on them. theres more but i cant think of the, right now

As long as you don't come in (half-)naked, everything is allowed.

the uniforms aren't bad. It's just the rule we have for them. they are NOT lenient at all when it comes to uniforms. Seriously, there could be a fight right in front of the princeipal and he wouldn't see it. but god forbid anyone isn't wearing a belt :rolleyes:

Unfortunately we have those stupid uniforms too :( No rolling up our sleeves or skirts. I personally don't roll my skirt but A LOT of girls do and they're sooo high! I don't know why they do it. Solid color socks, no exessive make up or jewlery. It's a Catholic HS so they're very strict on what they do. I had one too many buttons undone and I got screamed at. Never did that again!

Just wondering, is it correct to say that all private schools have uniforms while all public schools in USA-Canada do not have uniforms? Or do some public schools require uniforms too and are there private schools that do not?

There really was no dress code at my school. Girls got away with showing a fair amount of skin -- which was both good and bad in their own ways.

:lol: Same here! When I know I won't have time, I pretty much put on some sweats and go to bed and then wake up and go straight to school.

My high school did have a dress code, but it's not like it was ever enforced. I remember in middle school though, the dress code was really strict (and it's gotten even more strict in the past couple of years). They used to randomly do "dress code checks" during the middle of class. The principle or vp would come on the PA system and tell the teachers that this is a dress code check and to check the students to make sure their clothes follow the dress code. If someone had violated the dress code, the teacher had detention slips they would fill out and the kid would be sent to the dean's office.

My HS had a dress code but it wasn't all that bad. Basically no short shorts or skirts, no spaghetti straps or tank tops, and no shirts with profanity on them.

Way back in the 60's we had very strict dress codes. The boys had to wear a belt or were suspended. Also no beards or mustaches or long hair were allowed. The girls could not wear jeans or slacks of any kind. Our skirts could be no more than 3 inches above the knee.Ah.............The Good Old Days:rolleyes:
Shortly after I graduated(1968) The dress code really relaxed. (especially in the 70's)

We didn't really have a dresscode. As long as you looked halfway decent, It wasn't a problem.

When I was in required schooling, there were NO uniforms. I think it was about one or two years after I graduated high school that ALL elementary and middle schools HAD to have school uniforms. They consisted of single-colored polo shirts and trousers or skirts below the knee. I don't think our high schools have uniforms.

There is no dress code whatsoever here. My neighbor wore a shirt that said "Eat my Burrito" and nothing happened to him.

we have a dress code but it's not that bad.
no super short skirts or shorts.. no spaghetti strap tank tops or anything unless you have a shirt over it (like an open shirt).. no giant chains hanging from your pants. they say no shirts with profanity on them.. but i saw a guy walked down the hallway with a shirt with a squirrel on it that says, "my nuts have dropped!" it was hilarious, but nothing happend. no hats allowed either. but flip flops are allowed, finally.. after years of people fighting it.

Guys had to tuck in their shirts.

Guys were not allowed to wear an earing or have any facial hair.
