I noticed on yesterday's episode, Chad Maurer's mom was talking about the day he disapeared. She said, "I could hardly sleep at all that night. I think I only slept for like 5 hours."

5 hours?!?!? What does she think normal working people get on an average night? I don't know about you guys but 5-7 hours is an average nights sleep. I do not think I would be able to sleep at all if I had a son and he was missing.

That sounds a bit harsh. Chad was 19. It wasn't like he was a 6 year old. So why would they lay awake all night worrying. I know I didn't keep my parents fully informed when I was 19. If you do some research you will find that these were loving, thoughtful parents that spent years seeking the truth. You can be assured that they spent many sleepless nights after that. I usually want 8 hours sleep myself as do many others. So just what is your point.

Hey, I didn't mean anything negative towards Chad Maurer's family, or to imply that they were not as concerned as they should have been. I just thought the 5 hours of sleep remark was a bit odd. I would bet that most working people sleep 5-7 hours a night. I would be pleased the morning after a night when I slept five hours. I wouldn't remark, "I only slept five hours last night." Add a child abduction into it and I probably wouldn't have mentioned my sleep pattern at all.

I just think its odd. Thats all. No hidden agendas here. I did not intend to offend anyone. Trust me.

I'm sure Chad parents were very concerned about his whereabouts. No one is disputing that. I too must admit though that I was suprised to hear that his mother got 5 hours sleep the first night he was missing. Unless she went to bed at her normal time thinking Chad would be home soon and then woke up 5 hours later and realized Chad still wasn't home and began calling his friends.

I am not at all trying to be negative either, but I was also struck by what she said about not being able to sleep, then saying that she slept about five hours. But when you're being interviewed and you know you're going to be on TV, unless you're used to it, you're probably nervous. I know I would be. So I figure it was just nerves.

5 hours really isn't that much sleep. If you go to bed at midnight (which is much later than most adults go to bed), that would mean you would wake up at 5:00 A.M, which is very early. If memory serves, she said she was up at 6:00 A.M., but didn't start making calls until about 7:30. That means she stayed up until 1:00 worrying about her son, then got out of bed at 6:00 A.M. because she couldn't sleep anymore.

I didn't find anything out of the ordinary about her statement at all.

I refuse to believe anyone goes to sleep before midnight. Five hours is just about right -- 4 to 9.

If I remember correctly, they are from Wisconsin, which is in central time. I'm from Illinois originally and people definitely go to bed earlier than they do here in LA or in other larger cities on the coasts. All tv shows are on an hour earlier, traffic is not as thick and people are done eating supper by 6:30. Often here, as annoying as it is, people have small kids out at Target as they're closing at 10pm, so 5 hours of sleep would have been very little for someone who was used to going to bed around 10-10:30 and getting up at 6 or 7 to get ready for work.
