yeah could be. And he wasn;t one of the producers, he was one the creators of the show

I kind of doubt it because I think Florida's last was already Evans from way back on 'Maude' and 'Maude' debuted in 1972. I don't think anyone sat around thinking when the show premiered "That Esther Rolle's such a fantastic actress lets give her her own spinoff in a couple of years and we'll call her character Florida after the actress's own home state- and for her surname we'll make it one of the co-stars on 'All in the Family' (which this show has just spinoff from) who could produce that show for her in a few years time!"

THE E! TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY SAID THE WERE ORIGANALLY CALLED THE BLACK FAMILY(THIER LAST NAMES WERE BLACK) BUT THE NETWORK WAS OFENDED BY THAT NAME SO THEY CHANGED IT TO EVANS.
